How many books are there where it's possible to see all art in a single successful playthrough? Legend of Zagor I think you can. I don't think there are any Forest of Doom art that leads to failure, so technically that would mean you can do an all-art playthrough.
Some examples I had hopes for: I thought the structure of Scorpion Swamp might let it quality, but reference 375 is a failure paragraph with art, so this isn't even a lesser example; Island of the Undead has some mutually exclusive art in the swamp; Vault of the Vampire has some mutually exclusive art on the way to the castle.
The lesser version, where each piece of art is accessible on a winning route but not all can be seen on the same playthrough, has rather more examples.

I'm not aware of any others, but there are some books I don't know thoroughly enough to be certain.
Robot Commando strikes me as a maybe, and the possibility of an uncontrolled ZED spell sending you back to near the start of the book might provide a loophole allowing for the inclusion of The Crown of Kings.

For those I have completed:
1. Warlock of Firetop Mountain (No. The Giant Spider and Cyclops are on separate routes.) 2. Citadel of Chaos (No. The tentacle and the group by the fire are on separate routes.) 3. Deathtrap Dungeon (No. The Mirror Demon is not on a winning route.) 7. Island of the Lizard King (No. The Water Elemental and the Bear are on separate routes.) 8. I thought Gates Of Death might be a positive as there are so many possible loops and possible points to restart the adventure? But the fail ending where you're slaughtered by the demonic army (reference 436) has a large illustration, so that's out. Don't know about EOTD, POP and COS - I like the illustrations in Port Of Peril. Gates Of Death also has an orphan illustration and reference somewhere, I believe one with a giant.

Alright, for this special challenge some of the German translations are actually "superior":
1. Warlock - neither the Giant Spider nor the Cyclops illustrations made it into the translation 5. City - illustration of the Mad Man cut 6. Deathtrap Dungeon - no illustration of Mirror Demon
those being just those I was able to check right now, there's probably more (I don't remember the illustrations you mention for Island f.e. and have no idea what hooded creature you talk about in Scorpion Swampf).

Errr…. My short term memory let me down big time regarding the “hooded” fellow in Scorpion Swamp. He is horned for sure but not hooded. I was referring, at least in my own mind, to this: (Forgive me, I’m getting old and daft.) 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Picture from: Fighting Fantasy Project
(The two Island of the Lizard King illustrations can be seen in the reviews on the same blog.)

Bloodbones - No the Giant Mosquito is not on the true path. Night of the Necromancer - No there are many different illustrations that are not on the same path. Possibly you could see all of them on multiple tryings of the book winning each time but not all on one run. Port of Peril - Yes I think you could see them all on one run though it would be very hard. Assassin's of Allansia - No the sleeping man under the tree is the only one not on the true path. Secrets of Salamonis - Yes if you do it multiple times. You can see all illustrations but not on the same run.

Yikes - imagine wasting an illustration for a section that it's impossible to reach! If handled well, that could work in a parody gamebook. Deliberately create an orphan reference in which something spectacular happens, have it accompanied by an eye-catching illustration that's likely to whet the reader's appetite for the encounter depicted, and in the middle of a long paragraph, bury the revelation that there's no way of reaching the section. It'd be a troll move, but in the right context and spirit, you could potentially get most readers to concede that it was an impressive prank.

I was referring, at least in my own mind, to this: (The two Island of the Lizard King illustrations can be seen in the reviews on the same blog.) No, I would remember that, that wasn't in the translation. The illustration of the bear made into "Die Insel des Echsenkönigs", the water elemental didn't.

A few more:
19. Demons of the Deep (No. The picture of the 2 Deep Ones guarding the palace is only shown if you attack them, after which you will not get to meet their king, and so won't see his picture.) 27. Star Strider (No. The picture of the Grom with an illusory monster head at section 54 cannot be reached if you fight the GromPol Androids at section 385 who are also pictured.) 28. Phantoms of Fear (No. The picture displaying Istra in his goat-crocodile form is directly at at bad ending.) 34. Stealer of Souls (Not 100% sure, but I think this may actually be a yes. There's a path that takes you through almost every non-lethal encounter in the book, and none of the pictures are of bad endings. Granted, a couple of the pictures can only be triggered by random chance on dice, but still possible.) 43. Keep of the Lich Lord (Surprisingly no, although this one came close: seeing the picture of Elindora means that Kandagor is not with you, which means you won't see the picture of Lady Lotmora and her followers, even though you can still find and kill them.) 45. Spectral Stalkers (Another very close one, the design is such that you can go through almost every encounter...BUT I think the Vaskinds and the Mantir/Colepod encounter are the very rare mutually exclusive ones...and both of these feature a picture.) 49. Siege of Sardath (No. The picture of Fangnir's wagon being destroyed can only be reached if you made the choice that prevents him from giving you his book of which content is featured in another picture.) 55. Deathmoor (No. The picture of the crone selling "lucky heathers" and of the gambling wheel in the Elfbane Bar are on mutually exclusive options.) 58. Revenge of the Vampire (No. The bat spectre and the (were)wolf are on mutually exclusive paths. 59. Curse of the Mummy (No. If you see the picture of Cranno's sabre-tooth tiger, you're on the path to delayed Game Over since you will miss getting an essential item from him after killing his pet.)

I think Gates of Death is possible, so long as you die on reference 436. There wasn't a stipulation you had to succeed, was there? The giant can be reached after leaving Salamonis by fleeing on foot and using oil on the farmers (216 - 246 - 314)

I don't know Crystal of Storms well enough to know offhand if it's possible, but research so far suggests you would need to take advantage of the broken structure of the book to revisit islands: if your home island is Altos, you can't reach the pictures of Flapps and of Galen; if your home island is Cumulus, you can't reach the picture of the Tunneller. Thus, your home island must be Cirrus. But, I think the picture of the lightning dragon thing is only available if you take the bridge from Cumulus to Cirrus, meaning you have to visit Cirrus at least twice.

Compiling everyone's research, we only have 6 out of 75 books where you can see all the art in a single successful playthrough, including books which require loops and ambiguous mechanics to do it.
1. Warlock of Firetop Mountain (No. The Giant Spider and Cyclops are on separate routes.) 2. Citadel of Chaos (No. The tentacle and the group by the fire are on separate routes.) 3. Seeing all the images in Giants and Port is kind of an indictment though, isn't it? It just shows there isn't enough divergent paths to explore. At least the others are either open worlds or have loops as the reason.
I'm not sure on Stealer of Souls though, is that confirmed? I might need to revisit

Seeing all the images in Giants and Port is kind of an indictment though, isn't it? It just shows there isn't enough divergent paths to explore. In Shadow of the Giants’ defence, there are a good few pictures way off the golden path: The Centaurs, the Wraith, the Emerald Dragon, the Golem and the Screaming Demon. But yeah, it is a very forgiving adventure in terms of path choice.

Stealer of Souls is not possible. You can't see both the stone golem at 274 and the beetle at 365 in the same playthrough.
