Hi all, Just wanted to announce that we've just released a digital compendium of all four Sagas of the Demonspawn gamebooks by Herbie Brennan, titled The Complete Sagas of Fire*Wolf. We've had some new artwork commissioned and modified the rules system so it's a LOT easier to play. It's available for Apple and Android smart phones and tablets, as well as PC, Mac and Linux via Humble. You can find out more info here with download links: gamebookadventures.com/gamebooks/the-complete-sagas-of-firewolf/Cheers! The Tin Man

The modifications to the rules are good news. Unplayability was by far the original books' worst flaw.

I can't imagine any book having "fuckit I won every fight" syndrome set in earlier than it does with this one.

Oh God, who remembers those combat rules from the original books? Classic case of a 'programmer's' thought process rather than a writer or a designer. In other words: utter illogical unplayable crap

It would be excusable if all that complexity actually led to a balanced combat system (something few gamebooks can boast of). But no, it was actually one of the most unbalanced systems I've ever come across.

A bit confused on the luck-roll if defeated during battle. You get a full heal to your maximum HP, or you simply can re-play the battle with your current HP from the tsart of the battle? Also, at the start of the book you fight with staves - quarterstaff if I understand truly. A weapon-type which is not on the weapon-chart. What is the weapon-bonus here?
