That's probably the fastest I'm ever going to get one of those. I do love Sherlock Holmes. How about:
When your new neighbours, the Singhs, moved into the flat opposite yours, they seemed like a likeable bunch if a bit …vague. But increasingly you’re starting to wonder if you too are becoming almost as unfocussed and out of it as they are, and if it might be something to do with the experiments performed by their son Cyrus.

It occurred to me that whilst i was going for a similar word the meaning and usage of it is wholly different so it wouldn't make sense in this regard. As such, i've changed the text so that it's actually guessable now.
Alright children, Christmas season is here again. You know what that means. Bring your baubles, ornaments and tinsel. We'll hang the lights and garlands all around the room. If you get any presents bring them here and don't open urgently like last year. May all good things come to those who wait.

so i guess this one's probably a bit vague in the similar sounding sense. there are clues in the paragraph though. work out the book and the word may come easier. the book in question has 2 characters featured in the paragraph of similar sound when read out.

The only things I could find: Tinsel=Tim Sell Open urgently=panurge=Paul Mason
But since this isn't sound alike authors or illustrators,I'm wrong.
Hint please?

Panurge is also a character in BVP, but even using that title as a basis, the best I could come up with was Deck the Christmas Tree, which seemed too far from the source to even be worth suggesting.

yeah, i went totally vague since my other attempts got sussed out so easily.
Panurge is one of the characters but i'm pretty sure he's not in BVP. the answer is only 2 words and probably most discernible when spoken quickly through a phone. first word is 4 syllables, second is 1 syllable.

If it's the other Isles of the Dawn-based book, the best fit I can come up with for the syllable structure is Decoration Time.

I am not a fan of Black Vein Prophecy. The goal is not strong to me and i do not see myself as Maior. Not a good book to me.

BVP has arguably one of the best plots in a FFbook even though the gameplay is weak. it's a much better book if you actually understand what is going on and why. it's definitely not straightforward in terms of storytelling.

You have been transported to another world, in a body not your own, but much weaker, even suffering from haemophilia. And as you've wound up working in a library, you face the constant risk of bleeding to death from a paper cut. Can you find a way of reducing the risk posed to you by the tomes you must handle while you seek a solution to your predicament?

You found a sturdy and secure padlock on the ground, and it is locked tightly. It became a lifelong obssession for you to defeat this "enemy",and finally find a way to open it.Your journeys have brought you to a structure that sprays water, but your attention is captured by the blue jewel in the shape of a lockpick above the structure. Can you climb the structure and get it so that you may finally beat the stubborn padlock?

The words "pick" and "lock" are completely wrong. The word has six letters, and five of those are contained in "The War". "Of" is also wrong as well, although the word is not that important.
