Seems a bit harsh - just gets bumped up to Grand Wizard of Yore then dies in his next appearance.

Well, Ian seems inspired by television, last time it was The Walking Dead (perhaps), now it could be Game of Thrones...

Well, Ian seems inspired by television, last time it was The Walking Dead (perhaps), now it could be Game of Thrones... In that case I just hope he hasn't been plonking himself down in front of The Great British Bake Off. We could spend half the book looking for a special sort of self-raising flour, which for some reason can only be found in a crow's nest in a forest you have no reason to visit.

Well, then, perhaps for once we would have a reason to go around tasting strange stuff. Mind you, there would be about forty death paragraphs related to food poisonning (or just poison) (with 50 other death paragraphs unrelated to poison).
But what fun would an adventure be without a little bit of stumbling??

A little stumbling is all very well, but it's been a long time since Ian Livingstone wrote a gamebook that wasn't equivalent to walking down a potholed, rubble-strewn corridor in pitch darkness with your laces tied together and both soles welded to the floor.
Except when suitably fortified by a healthy diet of cervelles de Martin, of course.

What are you trying to say, ed? Maybe Mr. Green could help this time by holding a candle in that corridor, so that at the very least we'd be aware of the state of our shoes... just before Ian tippy toes behind Jon and snuff the light off.

I sure hope so , i think i sayd that previously but i think ideas must be shared and discussed between great authors , and a conjunction of Green and Livingstone sound good to me, dont saying he needs it, just shouldn´t discard it.

Surely they are in touch, since Green is the new Warlock of the official site. As to if Ian will reach out, that's another thing: ego can be a powerful deterrent.

Sure there's still plenty of room under Ian's patio...

Indeed it has been a while. I'm sure the worms have freed up some space.

Aww, can't see anything mudworm, I'll try from the house, I guess. It's just another embedded tweet from Ian. The text reads: "My new Fighting Fantasy book nearly written. Now I need your help. Please nominate three artists for the interior illustrations. Newbies OK."

What does he mean by newbies ok? I think he means it's OK to suggest artists who've never done FF books before.

Thanks almighty for clearing this up.
Does Ian Miller still draw (...or lives)? How awesome would that be!

Thanks Kieran! So I click on your link and am automatically freaked-out by what I see. Yep, that's Ian Miller alright. I think I will delve deeper in my lunch hour, don't want to scare the neighbours.

For those who are interested, I pitched to Ian Livingstone for the illustration job on his next book. I doubted I would get very far looking at who I was up against but if you want to check out my work I'd be happy to hear your thoughts. www.ironrose.co.uk/davelewis.html

Now i know where you get the profile pic (from your own artwork) well done i quite like the drawings ,some sort of dark themed (very appropriate for a gamebook).

Thanks offm. Yeah my drawings usually come out quite dark and moody. The profile pic is sort of a self-portrait, as I set up a mirror and used my reflection to help me draw the face.

Pretty good Mr. Lewis, love the deep shadows. I'm sure your style would fit some Gamebooks out there. Like, FF range 38 and up, perhaps? Late Green vintage also?

Thanks for the compliment hynreck. I really appreciate feedback, especially considering how long they took to draw. Hopefully Livingstone liked them too

These are really good. I can easily imagine these brightening up (or darkening up) the pages of an FF book. The firey demon is probably my favourite.

Much appreciated Mudworm. It took me quite a while to get the perspective right on that fire demon. Also, for those who might have missed it, I believe that Livingstone has completed his first draft and is now in the proof reading/play testing stage.

Wait, Ian has a playtesting stage? I thought he gave up on that in 1987.

The playtesters are all under his patio. They are his loyal subjects. They will not anger him.

Wait, Ian has a playtesting stage? I thought he gave up on that in 1987. Well he has several stages to work through: 1. Are there enough skill 11 opponents? 2. Is the adventure linear enough? 3. Are there enough doors to open? 4. Are there enough left-right options? 5. Is the shopping list of essential items long enough? 6. Is the final boss ludicrous enough? [And most important of all] 7. Is there a companion who gets killed early enough (perhaps even earlier than Mungo who lasted 1 reference)?

You forgot the important: Are there enough non-comestible stuff lying around to taste?
