Another charity shop purchase the day - 25p!
(This is a 1996 reprint , not an eighties original)
This is more like a sophisticated version of an Usbourne Puzzle book ( I love them as well!)with a two page cartoon spread with a basic puzzle to solve (a maze, find the object etc) then a choice of two paths to take.
Anyway, the minute I grabbed it, I realised I owned one of these books backin the day, though I cant remember which one, or where it went!
Anyway, I honestly couldn't wait until my wee boy got back from school because I had the feeling this would be right up his street (along with my other find today - see next thread)
He loves it! - (Sam is six) He's played it four times so far lost each time - he doesnt want to stop playing even though its bedtime!
These books are great - I've got to get more!

Just saw this thread. Love this series too, own 3 of them (not Planet of Terror though) and flipped through a few others a long time ago. Link to the series here: gamebooks.org/Series/490/ShowIt's something like Be an Interplanetary Spy in terms of visual puzzles but large format and with full colour art. Charming and great fun.

Glad someone else likes them! - We've picked up another four from the series since then as my wee lad really loves them (can't get him into FF or even Choose your own adventure yet though - aaarrggh!)

I have a couple of these, Pirates of Doom and Island of Horror. They're basic but charming.
