I could have sworn the new title was going to be "The Demon Prince." Someone said this on Facebook. Either way TDP is a better title.

Agreed. The Demon Prince sounds far cooler, but I love sailing so the Port of Peril (POP!) will do just fine for me. Then again, it could always be about a drunken adventurer whose goblet gets spiked. We shall see...

Some one on Twitter was trying to guess the new title and "the demon prince'' was one of their guesses.

'Port of Peril' sounds like a slightly dangerous alcoholic drink.

A younger Ian Livingstone might have been adventurous enough to propose an 'of'-free title, but these days the lure of familiarity must be strong. Besides which he's already written a book called The Demon Spider. I'm happy enough with the title – even if it is only four letters from Portal of Evil. Let's just hope PoP starts with a bang and doesn't go flat.

I wonder if they consider the anagrams when naming these books. POP is very memorable, but things could go wrong pretty fast if Livingstone decided to write a book about "Shakor The Demon" for instance. I wouldn't fancy that anagram popping up all over the forum.

Sounds like a new idea for a thread to me...

Haha. I thought that, but I wasn't brave enough to start one. With some of the other ideas that were jumping into my head, I feared I might get barred from the site. (Feel free to steal my idea & start one up if you want to though, in my honour of course.)

I'm also eager to see what they will come up with for the relaunch of the series, hoping that they don't dumb it down. I fear new covers, frankly, but I hope they preserve the classics. I want mint condition covers of City of Thieves, Forest of Doom and Deathtrap Dungeon. Let's face it the new covers can't beat those. And I know it won't happen, but it would be sweet if they end up re-releasing some of those books that were skipped last time with Wizard. I want my Deluxe Sky Lord Box Set, dammit!!
For POP, let's hope Livingston doesn't screw too much with the rules, and for lots of random numbers popping everywhere and disgusting food to taste...

What books will be relauched? Is there a list?

None that I know of, yet. There is supposed to be 5 books, and perhaps POP is one of those five. So... My bet is, Warlock, of course, deathtrap, city of thieves, and one Jackson, Citadel of Chaos or House of Hell.
The next wave will be in 2018, only...

This is fairly nit-picky, and I suppose it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but I can't help but keep thinking that I hope this book comes with a nice green spine.

It's good to see the ol' bitey dagger back. Overall they're a touch cartoonish for my taste. I suppose that's an indication of an intent for these to be bought by new young readers as well as old codgers like us, and that's for the best. Whether this is the best way to achieve it (and whether the cover of HoH prepares readers for the book) I'm not sure.

I agree. POP's cover is quite cool, but I'm not sure the comic book style works for me either. That's just my taste though. Regarding the others, the old Miller, McCaig covers are hard to beat but I can understand why they went for this new look. I obviously hope they sell well and reach a new generation. Have they got green spines though?

Oh dear.
How lucky that I'm not one to judge a book by its cover.

I like them. They're very different from the originals but they've got a charm of their own. Love the new Citadel of Chaos cover in particular. Wonder what format they will be in? I always liked the larger format and text of Wizard Series 2.

As I understand it there is likely new internal illustrations to match, so sounds like text may be completely reset rather than the black-ish photocopied look of the Wizard versions. Hoping to get confirmation on Monday about the news internal art.

Well, they are interesting. I agree mostly that they can't beat the original covers, I so wish they were somehow included in the books just so the youngsters could see what they used to be, but the use of bold colours is kinda cool and certainly striking. Now if they could only release new versions of the rare FF books, that would be something.

My 5 Cents on this, love the detail of the fading background of the port in the Port of Peril cover with vibrant colors it´s appealing ,also i have to agree with Hynreck , would love to get my hands on a copy of magehunter and slaves of the abyss for instance, dont know if it´s doable , but would love it.

Apparently the (ahem) £35 hardcover of Portal of Peril will have a different cover by Ian McCaig.

The cover for the Hardcover Collector's Edition Ah, that would be the grown-ups' cover there. Or at least the over-12s' cover. I like that one much better. Unfortunately I don't think I have £35 down the back of the sofa.
