I know it's a really bad conversational tactic to talk about one's dreams, but I think this is worth mentioning. Last night I dreamed that Livingstone officially announced that all Skill bonuses in his books post-Forest of Doom should be treated as Attack Strength bonuses. I very much doubt this will ever become a reality.

Because everyone knows Forest is where all the problems started.

City more than Forest. There are two items early on in CoT that have Attack Strength bonuses, and after that it's mostly or exclusively Skill from then on.

Strangely enough, I had a dream last night that I completed knights of doom without cheating. And now sylas has made my dreams come true!

He might get round to saying this on twitter with enough prodding since he offers extra stats and advocates cheating.

I think it's the lack of treating bonuses with the proper respect.
Skill bonus-granting gear is still useful in that it can mitigate debilitating damage (twisted ankles, cut sword-arms) and should be more common fare among an adventurer's equipment. (think sturdy boots and gauntlets, no magic swords as 'Assassins' did very poorly)
Rarer, enchanted objects and weapons grant Attack Strength bonuses but are dependant upon them being equipped and may only work in certain situations. Or be activated against certain adversaries.
Legendary blessings and god-forged arms & armour are bestowed once-in-a-lifetime and will boost your Initial stats just by coming into contact with them. (How I justified leaving the Sommerswerd behind on certain Lone Wolf missions while retaining the +8CS)
