Apologies if this is not the appropriate place for this.
So, I have a tabletop RPG campaign, where my homebrew setting basically includes all sorts of things I've enjoyed over my decades of being a nerd. One of them is an interdimensional doorway that leads to the Cityport of Traps, Kharé. I had the idea of a side adventure, where the villain wishes to grab the Crown of Kings. My idea was that, on the way of bringing the Crown back to civilization, the Analander is waylaid or otherwise overcome in the Baklands. Perhaps the Birdmen of Xamen only flew as far as Lake Ilklala and the Analander was supposed to make their way back home themselves; in any case, the Sightmaster sentries on the Wall would definitely have shot the Birdmen down if they saw them, just because of that whole "stealing the Crown of Kings" business. So, the Analander has lost the Crown somewhere in the area of the Forest of Snatta/the Baklands/Kharé, and the players and the villain's forces are both trying to find it.
What I'm drawing a blank on is interesting encounters to have in the Baklands or the Forest of Snatta that aren't already the ones from the Sorcery! gamebooks. I've not read all of the Fighting Fantasy series (as I live in the States and they weren't as easy to find here in the 80s) and would appreciate the perspective of diehard fans as to what sort of things people might encounter wandering the region. I've got the following ideas:
I don't need mechanics, just good ideas for interesting encounters, or a reference to other Fighting Fantasy books I might read that would be a good fit for Kakhabad. Thanks for reading!

I've got the following ideas:
- A Black Elf caravan (interested in trade, but never above taking advantage of a rube)
- A group of Baklands Horsemen on patrol (aggressive, but slow)
- The Sham (could be good, could be bad, depends on the group's riddle-guesswork)
