Many thanks for translating this, Linflas. It is a refreshing and interesting adventure, I can see why they liked it at the competition. Are we starting over in search of the best ending?

Are we starting over in search of the best ending? We can have another try if you want. The goal is to have exactly 5 HUMANITY points. 4 are not enough, 6 are too much.

Are we starting over in search of the best ending? We can have another try if you want. The goal is to have exactly 5 HUMANITY points. 4 are not enough, 6 are too much. Yes please. It looks like we could do that by following a very similar path to what we did with just a tweak, but maybe a bit more experimentation would be more fun.

It would appear that some specific HUMANITY score causes involuntary transformation into Britney Spears. Weird, even for (non- Sky Lord) FF!

If the idea of giving this another go is still open, perhaps we could try "...wait patiently in your familiar surroundings" and turn to 45.

45 Lurking in the water at the edge of the cesspool, you watch as the group of warriors file into the dark, leafy woods. A few dozen minutes pass in silence, then suddenly a chorus of shrill screams rises up, soon countered by the shouts of the humans and the clash of their weapons. You grin sardonically, revealing a double row of sharp teeth. You were right. The tumult of the battle lasts for a long time, but gradually loses its intensity, before fading away completely. The waiting continues, but this is not a problem for you; hunting from ambush is in your nature. You have never been a stalking predator. Suddenly, the first soldier emerges from the thicket, followed by the rest of the troop. The howlers have done their job well: the number of humans has been reduced by half, and most of them look very tired. Will you take advantage of their disarray to mingle with them by taking the appearance of a masked warrior? Turn to 18. Or would you rather wait? Turn to 14.

18 Cautiously, you emerge from the putrid water to hide behind a rock. The humans are only a few steps away from you. Some of them walk along the shore laughing and congratulating themselves on their victory, but most of them sit silently, if they are not busy nursing their wounds. Suddenly, the man who seems to you to be the leader gives them the signal to return to camp. At this command, the group slowly reassembles, preparing to re-enter the swamp. The time has come to act. Immediately, you take on the appearance of a powerful warrior with a face hidden by a visored helmet, and you join the troop. Turn to 37.
37 Will you try to hear what the three humans walking in front of you are saying? Turn to 48. Or would you rather keep your distance? Turn to 21.

Yes, listen in. I'm pretty sure we did that before and it wasn't bad.
Also, to keep things moving, if the next decision is whether to investigate the strip of rock I think that can be avoided.
Am I the only one interested in completing this?

It seems so because most of the sections have been visited. But let's have another go anyway.
48 Turn to 21.
SKILL: 5 STAMINA: 5 HUMANITY: 3
21 Will you enter the camp with the warriors? Turn to 16. Or would you rather slip away quietly to explore the narrow strip of rock that separates the ocean from the fortifications? Turn to 43.
43 is a trap and you lose 1 STAMINA, so skip it.
16 Approach a group of a dozen humans gathered around a campfire, hoping to get information about the whereabouts of their leader? Turn to 46. Or would you rather head for the wooden buildings? Turn to 35. Or to the galley? Turn to 29. Or towards the colourful ship? Turn to 41. Whatever your choice, remember that you can only visit these paragraphs once!

46 If you have the shape of a man called Sven Ingjaldsson, or a masked warrior, turn to 32. If your appearance is that of Sergeant Lucius, and you know his voice, turn to 24.
32 How did you expect to pretend to be human with such a flimsy cover? No sooner have the soldiers spoken to you than they realise that there is something wrong with your appearance, and they try to find out what it is. Through no fault of your own, the illusion that protected you disintegrates, revealing your true nature to the stunned humans, and their cries of alarm ripple through the camp. Courageously you face up, ready to fight your last battle. You have failed in your mission.

35 What will you do? Turn around and face the newcomer? Turn to 19. Hide inside a barrel? Turn to 5. Or hide in the shadows? Turn to 12.
19 To your surprise, the man who appears in the doorway does not look like a soldier at all. Rather ungainly and relatively old, his colourful attire is disconcerting; humans obviously have no sense of the ridiculous. Knowing their physical vulnerability, you understand that they might feel the need to protect themselves with armour and arm themselves with a sword, but this individual's predilection for ribbons and lace leaves you puzzled. Perhaps he is a priest of some sort? Now he is speaking to you in an aggressive tone: "What are you doing here? The reserves are off limits to the troops. Take me to your lieutenant. This deserves an exemplary punishment!" Well, that clarifies it. This strange character leaves you no choice. As you approach him with a determined look on your face, you have the satisfaction of seeing his cruel smile fade into a frightened expression. "But... What are you doing? Answer me! I am the steward of Lord Azzur, I warn you! Please stop! Please, stop... St..." The direct blow you deliver to his face ends his speech. The man is thrown backwards several metres, unconscious before he even hits the ground. You then drag his body away from the entrance, behind a crate, to avoid attracting attention. Are you going to leave him like that? Turn to 6. Or would you rather cut his throat cleanly? Turn to 26.

OK I think I'll try finishing this off myself as I'm the only one interested in completing it and Linflas has the more popular swamp adventure to manage. I was only holding back as I'm excruciatingly monolingual, so the Google Translate version will get miniscule tweaks. So our hero heads for the galley (already translated) 29The pier is almost deserted, as most of the soldiers are gathered near their tents, and the few idle humans hanging around pay you no attention. To give them the impression that you are a regular visitor, you walk past the small, brightly coloured nave without looking at it, despite its oddity, and arrive at the pontoon that leads to the galley. You immediately step onto it. No sooner have you set foot on it than a slender figure emerges from the night and stands in your way, blocking your access to the boat. After a brief hesitation due to surprise, you decide to keep moving, as you are aware that anything else would immediately turn you into a suspect. A shiver runs down your spine as you finally discern the aristocratic features of the being facing you: a Stellar! A Stellar standing guard over a human galley! Inwardly, you exult. So this is what the former masters of Allansia have been reduced to... What a pity! What a downfall! Oh, how it must hurt them to have fallen under the thumb of that coarse race which they themselves created to war against the natives! At this thought you feel a rush of pride come over you. You and your brothers and sisters would rather die fighting than suffer such humiliation! Did you take on the appearance of a man called Niall Byrne? If so, turn to 49, otherwise turn to 10.
We do have that appearance this time so... 49The Stellar pulls back and respectfully bows to you when he sees your borrowed face. You walk past him without saying a word, without even giving him a look. Coming from a member of this proud race that you loathe, such deference brings you immense satisfaction! Are you now going to head for the cargo hold? Turn to 47. Or towards the stern? Turn to 28. [Interesting to see that the original French for the second choice is 'le château arrière' which GT returns as 'back castle'. I'm glad that was translated simply as 'stern' as I'd have been lost otherwise, but I see there can be such as thing as an aftcastle or aftercastle on a ship. GT's suggestion was 'On the part of a member of this proud race...' which makes sense but reads awkwardly.]
Stern it is, don't want to cloud Hissssa's mind with too much reality.
28 (already translated) The large double door of the stern opens onto a small, richly decorated hallway. Luckily, the place is empty. You notice several side doors, but it is the magnificent staircase at the back of the room that catches your eye. You may be mistaken, but you are willing to bet that the quarters of the man you are looking for are on the upper level. With all your senses alert, you begin your ascent along the carved wooden ramp. Your bare feet make no sound on the red velvet-covered steps. Finally, you reach the first floor. The place is even more luxurious than the ground floor, if that is possible. You notice especially that there are many paintings on the walls. Will you take the time to examine them? Turn to 20. Or continue your exploration of the place? Turn to 7. Examine the paintings...
20 (already translated) Most of the paintings on display around you are surprisingly beautiful. One in particular catches your eye. It shows a human woman standing on the threshold of her modest home, holding a baby - the word men use for their offspring. You are fascinated by the way these two people look at each other; you feel that an invisible but incredibly strong bond unites them. For you, born from a magically created egg, such a thing is hardly conceivable, but the artist who painted this canvas was probably a bit of a sorcerer, for you cannot help but feel a sense of regret at the idea of never having felt such an attachment. Is this what love is all about? These new considerations give you 1 HUMANITY point. If your HUMANITY score equals 6, turn to 36. Otherwise, turn to 7.
Stats: SKILL: 5 STAMINA: 4 HUMANITY: 5
Humanity score is not 6...
7 (already translated) You leave the paintings room through a small corridor with floor covered by a thick black carpet with silver borders. After a few metres you come to a dark wooden door through which you hear the echoes of a lively dialogue. Will you try to listen to the conversation? Turn to 13. Or continue along the corridor until a second door opens at the end? Turn to 42. Listen in...
13 (already translated) There are two voices in the play. The first, deep and loud, authoritative, is clearly a man's. The second is much softer - though angry - and you deduce that it belongs to a woman. You don't need to know what they are arguing about to guess that the two characters have a strong animosity towards each other. This is what you hear in their exchange: (man) - I really don't see what you're complaining about, my darling. Are you not at all comfortable here? I know that this ship does not have all the conveniences you could wish for, but you must understand that your presence by my side is necessary, given the situation. It would hardly have been safe for you to remain in Fang. You know as well as I do the ambitions of Lord Carnuss, your cousin. I promise you, however, that when this island becomes mine, we will return to Black Sand, my capital, and that we will celebrate our wedding there with all the pomp and circumstance befitting a lady of your rank. (woman) - You know very well that I have no use for your luxury, Azzur, and that I have no desire to go to your so-called capital, which is nothing but a vulgar pirate den. As for marrying you, that is out of the question. I was very unwise to ask for your help when my father died, but I have decided to take back my freedom. Give me a ship of any size, with or without a crew, I don't care - I'd rather brave the ocean alone than stay here with you. (man) - You are wrong to take it that way. Do you realise that thanks to this island, my fleet will soon control all trade routes with Orbus? Can you imagine the fortunes that will bring? With all this wealth, and the combined resources of Fang and Black Sand, no lord of Allansia will be able to resist me... I offer you the title of Queen, Lady Sukumvit! (woman) - Forgive me Azzur, but I don't share your megalomaniacal delusions. And let me remind you that you are not yet the master of Makan. You show little regard for the creatures that live on this island. (man) - My word! It's almost as if you're taking the side of these monsters! I must tell you that your morbid fascination for the natives and their spawn is most unhealthy. You are as mad as your father, my poor Illia. Do you remember how he died, devoured by that red dragon he was stupid enough to want to integrate into his fourth labyrinth? (woman) - I do not allow you to insult my father's memory! But you are partly right. Like him, I am fascinated by the creatures of the Ancient Order. How dull our world would be without them... Curious, isn't it? I like what you fear, and I hate you. To me, YOU are the monster, Azzur! (man) - Be careful what you say, Illia, don't think you are indispensable to my plans. Since you like nightmares so much, I could very well decide to feed you to the growlers who crowd the hold of this ship. But perhaps you would like that? Now that I know you better, I'm beginning to wonder if their appetites might not be to your liking too! With these last words, the man bursts into a cruel laugh, and you hear him leave the room with a loud slam of the door. After he leaves, you hear only the sound of muffled sobs. At last, the leader of these accursed invaders is within your grasp. The time has come to take off your mask. You abandon your human disguise to resume your true appearance. The hour of victory is at hand! If your HUMANITY score is 4 or less, turn to 44. Otherwise, turn to 30. It isn't, this time...
30 You open the door abruptly and you discover an opulent place, obviously a bedroom. A human woman who was lying on a large four-poster bed sits up at your entrance, and stifles a cry of fear when she sees you. You notice immediately that she is very young, and her eyes are wet with tears. Oddly, now that the surprise of your sudden intrusion has passed, she stares at you fearlessly, with a simple expression of curiosity. This is a pleasant change from the looks of horror you are used to. Strange ... You would almost feel intimidated by it, which you find it hard to understand, but you don't have the time to devote to analyzing your emotions. "Azzur?" You grow to his attention. Without hesitation, the girl gestures to a door at the other end of the room. "Kill him," she tells you. Nothing could make you happier. Go to 4.
[Notes: 'intrusion' is my replacement for GT's suggestion of 'eruption' but I have no idea what 'You grow to his attention' should be. (It sounds giggle-worthy.) Maybe something about feeling he is nearby? Maybe 'attention' should be translated as 'danger' or 'threat' of him rather than attention.]
4 Satisfied that you have finally regained the freedom to unleash your might, you smash open the door, almost ripping it off its hinges. In the center of the room a tall figure jumps as you walk in, gazing at you with a look of amazement mingled with concern - but the man recovers almost immediately. Leaving the map he was looking at, the leader of the human soldiers rushes towards a large sabre hanging on a wall behind him, then turns and strides towards you, brandishing the weapon fiercely. The moment you've been waiting for is finally here. You will have to triumph over this formidable fighter:
AZZUR SKILL: 4 STAMINA: 5
If you win, turn to 22.
[I've replaced GT's suggestion of 'the freedom to let your strength explode' though not sure my version works, likewise 'push' (sounds weak) 'ripping it out of its gongs' and otherwise followed Linflas's previous translation – 'concern' for 'worry', 'recovers' for 'comes to a halt' and 'brandishing the weapon fiercely' for 'performing fierce reels with his weapon']

22Your opponent lies at your feet, bathed in a pool of blood. Xarxoxun was right to choose you; your mission is a complete success. You've learned enough about humans to know that the death of their leader should disrupt their army. Azzur only maintained cohesion around him thanks to his power of retaliation; his soldiers will probably have no other wish than to return home to reunite with their families. Unless ... What if you take his appearance? You could become the new master ... Suddenly, a cry of alarm rings out behind your back, tearing you away from your dreams of glory. You immediately turn around, and you find an old man in a hooded blue robe who finishes appearing in a corner of the room, suffused with sparks, and is looking furiously at you. A wizard ? This displeases you. Although human magic is of poor renown, caution is in order. Also in the doorway is the girl you met in the bedroom. Looks like she was the one who warned you. By her gaze, you can see that she has stood up for you. Strange indeed. How are you going to react? By rushing at the old man? Turn to 38.
By grabbing Azzur's sword and throwing it at your opponent? Turn to 17.
Or do you prefer to change into a native in an attempt to impress the wizard? Go to 9 Translation tweaks from GT: 'bathed' for 'bathing', 'rings out' for 'rang out', 'This displeases you' for 'This is not to please you', 'indeed' for 'decidedly'
38
Swift as a snake, you pounce on the magician as he completes his materialization. He seems surprised by your reaction, and he retreats several steps towards the door. Suddenly a dagger flickers behind him, before slamming into his back: it's the girl, Ilia, who comes to your aid! The man crumbles to the ground, his green blood flooding his robe. His green blood? But, the vital fluids of humans are usually red ... A bad feeling grips your heart, soon confirmed when you see the sorcerer staggering up. He should be dead! Stunned, you then witness a terrible transformation. He grows, stands up, and his skin takes on a reddish color. His clothes tear to reveal a muscular torso. His old man's face changes to that of a sneering demon. You recognize him then ... The Lost Son! The most powerful of the Children of Xarxoxun! Lucky for you, his injury weakened him considerably: THE FIRST SON SKILL 6 STAMINA 2
If you win, turn to 25.
25 The demon slams to the ground with a howl of agony. His body then begins to fall apart, emitting thick, fluttering smoke, and soon there is only a small pile of dust left. What a feat! You who are only of the thirty-seventh Generation, you have overcome the first of the Children of Xarxoxun, almost a native himself! Suddenly the girl - Ilia Nydomantha - walks towards you. You don't know if your aesthetic standards are the same as those of humans, but you find her decidedly pretty. "Thank you," you tell her - and you notice that you used a man's voice, without even realizing it, probably not to frighten her. The girl is smiling at you. She continues to approach you, a curious expression in her eyes. You feel uncomfortable. It is only when she comes within three feet of you that she finally stops. She gestures to you at Azzur's corpse on the floor. "Could you take his appearance?" she asks you. You nod, and you transform instantly. Are you trying to impress her? To your surprise, Ilia takes a step forward and puts her hands around your neck. The feeling of his arms gliding over your damp skin and his fingers running down your thorny spine fills you with indescribable emotion. "We're going to do great things together," she whispered to you, gazing into your eyes. Yes, right now you're tempted to believe it ...
Translation tweaks from GT: 'howl of agony' for 'howl in agony', 'her' for 'him' several times(!), 'Are you trying to impress her' for 'Would you try to impress him?', 'whispers' for 'whispered', 'gazing into your eyes' for 'gazing into yours' Interesting that the tenses get lost in translation.
Straight up, I had to fudge the final battle. The first son would have won with 1 STAMINA point left which makes me think that perhaps it's better to fight the elf and take his stuff, especially as the potion is actually good (I looked it up). Also I tried throwing the sword first – that did not go well.

So how does 'attention' fit in? Is it attention with a translation like 'danger' such as 'You croak/growl threateningly'? Or something more like 'You croak/growl at her?'
(Again my French to English translation ability is akin to that of Del Boy.)
