Ian Livingstone has been knighted.
"Also knighted are fantasy author, Games Workshop co-founder and video game entrepreneur Ian Livingstone for services to the online gaming industry..."
He also recently gave an interview to Gamerhub about several topics, including FF.
“It’s very, very rewarding to see that we have helped children enjoy the love of reading. Normally a book is a passive experience and a linear storyline. In Fighting Fantasy you are encouraged to make choices and you give the reader agency. Specifically, through generation Z who live their lives through social media, I think Fighting Fantasy gamebooks speak to that generation. That empowerment and that choice. From an educational point of view, whilst they were criticised as being games rather than books, eventually people realised how marvellous they were for raising literacy levels. They’ve been proven to raise literacy levels by 17%"

I bet the Queen had to Test her Luck when knighting him, and then had to roll above her stamina on 5 dice. Unfortunately, she happened to have rolled a number that IL didn't like and so then she had to start all over again.

I believe she said here are two dice and a copy of Crypt please complete then I will knight page 400. The ceremony was postponed until 2023.

An elderly lady moves towards you, her sword already drawn.
If you want to attack immediately, turn to 23.
If you want to push her over and make a run for it, turn to 312.
If you know her age, which was written in a book you found in a cellar 50 miles away, turn to 78.

Surely you mean, if you know her age, convert it into numbers where the Alphabet is A = 1, B = 2 etc. Because just turning to the number of years itself would be too simple an option 😋.

If it were Jonathan Green, you'd have a point, but Ian tended to just use the numbers as given. Think of the sets in Trial, all the Razaak trivia that needed collecting in Crypt, those blasted price tags in Armies, the teeth in Return...
