Game of Thrones? Do not expect a rational answer.

Personally I would deselect Trial of Champions leaving 3 fine choices. [/quote]
I am a huge "fan" of TRIAL of CHAMPIONS.

[quote author=" lordomnibok" Steve Jackson is currently writing a new FF book. Let us see if Steve Jackson has lost his touch as livingstone did.

Had the new covers for the latest re-releases been posted anywhere? Caverns is pretty decent but Khare doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid. Interesting that the slime eater is constantly used as the cover beastie when most other books have had a variety over the different editions.

I don't know if this is controversial, but the covers for Kharé have looked like total crap across all editions imo. Perhaps they shouldn't have focussed on that monster so particularly. Caverns looks much better, I agree.

I like both of them particularly the original John Blanche cover. If we're sharing controversial opinions though, personally I've never got why so many people rate the Demons of the Deep cover so highly. I always think it looks pretty goofy.

The Wizard Kharé cover is downright disturbing! The Scholastic cover is too cartoony for my taste, but then the could be said for most of the new artwork.

I think the only Sorcery! original cover I liked was The Seven Serpents with Fenestra on the cover. Looking at later releases, the only cover I like is the Wizard Shamutanti Hills with a much better manticore illustration than the original.

People rate the Demons of the Deep cover highly? I really liked the book, but also got a 'is that the best they could come up with for such a visually evocative story' feel from the cover. It's initially confusing to look at, and on inspection looks poorly drawn. I never liked the title either. The book has little to do with demons. While they may be metaphorical demons, I don't think it's a metaphor that works especially well for a story set in a world where actual demons are common. It feels like contrived alliteration.

There's actually plenty of friendly folk under the sea, never mind demons.

I'm all in favour of recognising the contribution of the slime eaters to public health. We could do with some of them under our cities today to wage war on the fatbergs slowly growing beneath us.

I remember one reviewer comparing the Wizard edition Slime Eater to an Elvis impersonator and now I can't think of anything else when I see it.

In which FF book there is the sentence: "Damn you for your cleverness!"?

So the Untitled Steve Jackson book has a release date of 1st August on that Book Depository link above and on Amazon. The former even seems to be offering a pre-order option while Amazon simply says that it's unavailable. (However someone is offering a used copy on there – in no better than 'Acceptable' condition – which has to be one of the more mysterious offers I've seen...) Do we actually believe the book will be published on 1st August, even though the title isn't known yet? Perhaps 'Untitled' is the name, with the alternative option of The Anonymites of Incogniton.

In addition: using that Amazon link, the book appears to be filed under snooker. The mind boggles. Presumably it's just a mistake, but if the book turns out to be called 'Sorcerer of the Spheres' and features as cover art a wizard with a strangely tapering wand who looks a bit like Dennis Taylor I might give it a miss...

I think I'd go with...
Steve Jackson: Creature of Havoc Ian Livingstone: Deathtrap Dungeon Steve Jackson 2: Demons of the Deep Jamie Thomson: Talisman of Death Andrew Chapman: Space Assassin Robin Waterfield: Masks of Mayhem Peter Darvill-Evans: Spectral Stalkers Luke Sharp: Star Strider Paul Mason: The Crimson Tide Keith Martin: Night Dragon Stephen Hand: Moonrunner Jonathan Green: Knights of Doom

Lots of things get listed on Amazon that never eventuate. I'm not sure if it is Amazon jumping the gun to get pre-orders by listing something that *might* be released or the publishing company getting ahead of itself before something has been officially announced.

I saw in internet that the new fighting fantasy book of Steve Jackson will be called: "The Hunter of Skulls" Is that confirmed?

Where did you see that? A quick search has turned up nothing to substantiate that claim.

BBC's Click had its 1000th episode recently, and it decided to have a go at interactive television. Fighting Fantasy is discussed rather extensively throughout the episode. storyplayer.pilots.bbcconnectedstudio.co.uk/experience/click1000In its final section, there is a fairly lengthy interview (say 20 mins) with Ian Livingstone at his house! He discusses how to write interactive fiction, looks at the design process of the FF series, some of his original maps, his gaming collection and also his FF art collection. Personally I found the discussion on the cover artists most interesting, never knew the connection between Zanbar Bone and Darth Maul. I took the wizard's hat at the beginning which allowed me to enter the final room.

Watched the whole episode, got to the bit when it introduced Ian, but didn’t click “enter Ian’s home” quick enough and was shown the end credits. Which I guess is the equivalent of “your adventure ends here”. Sigh. On the plus side, I learned a lot about self driving cars.
