So, everybody dislikes paragraph 400 in MoM, which got me thinking about, what actually makes a satisfying ending paragraph for an FF adventure? What are in your opinion the best and worst ending paragraphs in FF? I always liked the one in CoC for nonchalantly throwing you back into the fray if you don't have a leviation spell left.

The best paragraph 400: Slaves of the Abyss.

The Crimson Tide, no contest!

The Crimson Tide is certainly a strong contender but I think my favourite has to be House of Hell - the final line is a masterstroke. Come to think of it, Steve Jackson (UK) does a lot of really good ones. I love the cruel joke in Creature of Havoc and the ending of The Crown of Kings is of course very satisfying (although I have yet to legitimately reach it..).

I recall being pleased with the last paragraph of the whole Sorcery! series, it being the end of an epic quest which spanned not only 4 books but about a year in real life, too, waiting for the books to come out. Most memorably disappointing at the time was Space Assassin.

I like the cheesy pic of the treasure for Warlock - it just adds greatly to the satisfaction of winning.
Caverns of the Snow Witch has a great feeling of relief - being healed by the rising sun after an epic journey.
As mentioned, Crimson Tide is ingenious.
I remember as a child really hating the successful ending of Selator's quest in Scorpion Swamp, it seemed so understated but it's actually very fitting for a good wizard - virtue should be its own reward after all and a nice meal is just a bonus.

There's a pic at section 400 of TWoFM? Must have discarded it for the German translation Ah yes, caverns is a favourite of mine as well.

After the self-serving Warlock you finally end up with the extreme altruism of Selator. There is a book for every mood.

Creature of Havoc needs a namecheck in this thread.
So does Knights of Doom.

A fitting ending ... for a House of Hell! I've just had a thought - how is that phrased in the American version?

Final paragraph goes well for
Black Vein Prophecy Knights of Doom Legend of the Shadow Warriors House of Hell Talisman of Death
Quite a few have great endings.

how is that phrased in the American version? " A fitting end, you think, for a house of Hades."

While Snow Queen gets some flak for it's third act, the very cinematic "healing moment" and the fact that it takes place on Firetop was very cool.

I like Deathmoor P400 because it isn't what you expect...
I like the endings in Siege of Sardath, Black Vein Prophecy, and Vault of the Vampire - though each of the endings of The Crimson Tide is genius.
