Last round both space assassin and freeway fighter got knocked out, with equal numbers of votes. Is this because they didn't follow the thing of bad thing naming convention? Probably not.

However, because the same books are in the second round, I'm giving you the same vote.

No problem. Eventually we'll get to the point where people have to make a tough choice.

There are three excellent books remaining, four average and one abysmal. At least the Cleaners from Space Assassin (one of the best FF enemies ever) took out the trash!
I remembered The Tedious Tome existed for this round, and while I suspect it will survive, I have made an appointment to express my disapproval for rounds 3 onwards!

Hm. I think I know the order in which I would eliminate these. This first one is a difficult choice between two.
And it's not the sci-fi ones. They both have their advantages. Rebel Planet is a rollicking good book and I've already praised the writing. And Rings of Kether is one that's difficult to assess in retrospect, as, on release, we were still in the sort of "anything can happen" world (indeed, see book 11, an Earthling trying to get back from Orb), where not everything was set in a crapsack mediaeval world. With that in mind, a police procedural was still a different take on things, and an entertaining change of pace. I felt more genuine dilemmas in that one than in others, you weren't blasting away at mindless monsters but dealing with personal tragedies.

Interesting to see Demons of the Deep is the only book with no votes. Probably the most charming book in the series. If Crystal of Storms is going for the more kid-friendly approach, I hope it takes some inspiration from this one.

Sad to see Rings in top spot. I've always had a soft spot for it and like to revisit it for a fun light read. It may be cheesy but it's cheesy in a good way, and Chapman's succinct and choppy writing style actually fits the tone here compared to Space Assassin or Seas of Blood which just felt bland.
