From TUFFF (October 2009)... FIVE DAGGERS? I found the Banish Demons ritual to use against Verolac but it says it needs 5 Silver Daggers to complete the ritual. Just finished it through to the end and only found 1 Dagger. What the? If that's the only way to defeat Verolac then I must have missed a heap of stuff. From TUFFF... Oh yeah... forgot to mention the artwork inside the book is SENSATIONAL!
Oh, and a few of the references didn't seem to link cleanly. I can recall in the Abbey being led by the nice Monks (?) to my room for the night, and then the next reference having left the room and lost inside the Abbey of Evil!?!? Is it the same place I was led through? If so, I think I would've turned around and left Currently preparing a new AFF campaign "The Plague of Dreams"

From TUFFF... Oh yeah... forgot to mention the artwork inside the book is SENSATIONAL! It's not at all bad IMO, but it sometimes has a noticeable kind of computer generated feel about it which doesn't always work - not as badly as EotD though! For me, McKenna's best work is in RotV, and I love the atmospheric art in DoD, even if it's not quite as polished as some of his later work.

From TUFFF... I particularly like the way he's drawn Count Varcolac "slouched" in his chair, probably the best illustration in the book. I managed to find all five daggers after reading a couple of times. Not giving any spoilers away! "Your progress has been watched, foul creature of destruction!"

From TUFFF... You don't have to cast the ritual to win, either. On my first or second attempt at the book I defeated Varcolac without the ritual (but didn't actually succeed at the adventure because I'd picked up a certain catastrophic codeword along the way).

From TUFFF... WARNING - SPOILERS!!!
Oh, and a few of the references didn't seem to link cleanly. I think the reference in the Abbey does make sense - you fall through the floor as you try to make your way out! Unfortunately, there are some genuine errors. In Castle Wulfen, after you exit the Map Room, you have a choice of 3 directions, straight on being reference 496. If you turn right into the workshop, you are given the option to double back turn right, i.e. the original straight ahead option, but by turning to 459 not 496. Unfortunately this reference is wrong (it should come after leaving the room on the left) but gives away a vital clue to seeing off Varcolac. There are also instances when the non-linear gameplay proves too much to handle. If you enter the mysterious citadel (between Maun and Vargenhof) through the sewers and find a way up to the main complex, it suddenly becomes "the Abbey". I guess there must be a sign Also, if you wander through the woods near Balci and meet Veriticus, you know his name before he's introduced. On the whole though, another barnstormer from Mr Green.

From TUFFF (December 2009)... It's a very decent with some great scenes in the story. Unfortunately, due to the 'untested' use of the Change stat, it means that most (if not all) of these will be missed entirely. I generally play for a better read. In this case, the challenge is to double all increases to your Change and halve all the decreases you find. It's still very beatable even on min. stats. The art on the other hand is top-notch. I still prefer the likes of MM's Moonrunner and Revenge of the Vampire, however. Glad that he has returned to do Night of the Necromancer. The sample b/w artwork on the Official site are amazing. From TUFFF (February 2010)... So I've started on HW. After a few hours, I acquire a FLINTLOCK PISTOL!!!! Good god, firearms in Titan?!?! What's next, CCTV cameras in Blacksand? Is this the only Titan centred book that has guns or did I miss something?

Is this the only Titan centred book that has guns or did I miss something? Yes, there is plenty of gunpowder technology in Titan, guns included! Have a look at the latest issue of the Fighting Fantazine for an extended discussion by yours truly.

From TUFFF (May 2011)... I just bought Howl of the Werewolf two days ago and found a typo in 323. Mystified by the strange behaviour of the capricious gypsies, you prepare to set of again when something about the weight of your backpack makes you stop and check inside it.
Do you see the error? Does your book have the same problem? The more beautiful and pure FF is – the more satisfying it is to corrupt it.

From TUFFF (August 2011)... Waaah now this certainly stands as my 2nd all-time fav FF, with its horror/gothic atmosphere that sends chills down my spine, Green had already made great FF books like Knights of Doom but this one clearly supercedes it, and what I also like about it is that it isn't an OTP Those who haven't read this one are missing a real treat, believe me

From TUFFF (September 2011)... Just got hold of my copy yesterday and read for the first time. Here is my adventure log: ***SOME SPOILERS***
Game 1:
Dealt with the whole Black Wolf sequence at the start. Stopped at the village and helped them vanquish The Howling. Went East, met up with the witch-hunter and then the doctor. Went with the witch-hunter to Lady Isolt's tower. I guessed straight away she would be in the highest room, unfortunately I guessed too well because I did not have a suitable weapon to fight her with, result: death. Game 2:
Dealt with the whole Black Wolf sequence at the start. Stopped at the village and helped them vanquish The Howling. Went north, turned aside to look for the priest's shrine. After several fights on the moors and nearly drowning in quicksand I visited the shrine. Returned to the road and went on to the next village. I stopped outside to visit the carnival (who could resist?), won some gold in the cage fight, got some information from the fortune teller, but also sussed out the carnival was a bit dodgy. Curiosity got the better of me and I sneaked back after dark, unfortunately I got killed by the snake woman who was pretty nasty. I am liking the book so far. Its the first Jon Green one I've read. Will try and review it properly when I have completed it. Meanwhile lets hope in my third game I will get a bit further!

From TUFFF... Hi, just back from Lupravia. My third game I made it all the way to Count Verolac at the end but due to wrong-choices earlier in the game I was too weak to beat him. On my fourth game everything went smoothly, I only found 2 of 5 silver daggers but I was so tooled up with extra equipment that I beat the Count fairly easily. On the whole I thought this was really well-written, in particular the gameplay element was excellently done, everything was very fair and well balanced. I really liked all the hidden encounters and sub-quests, and all the extra places you didn't need to visit but could if you wanted. At first I thought 500 paragraphs was going to be too long and repetitive (imagine if Ian Livingstone added an extra 100 paragraphs to his works) but in fact the opposite was true, the extra length allowed the author to throw in lots of extra variation and bonus events/encounters, in other words too fully flesh-out the setting. I really liked some of the characters I met along the way, having various NPCs you could join forces with really added to the experience. Refreshingly these are NPCs who stay around for enough time that you get to know them somewhat. Of course this wouldn't be a proper review without some anal nit-picking, all I would say is that the start of the book is quite linear. The book doesn't really branch out until Strigovia. And probably the player can aquire too much gold, on my last game I arrived at Vargenhoff with enough cash to buy absolutely everything, of which half of it I didn't even need. But really neither of these things spoil an otherwise very good book.

From TUFFF (December 2011)... Hello.
Two questions about this great book
Number 334 (5 men). Why is he Werebeast? I can't see it on picture
Number 56 (Fang Hounds in Maun Tower). Hero can't get Call of the Wild, if he has word Nethcir. Or not?

Volt did get answered, though I can't remember by whom (it was before I found the forum). Might edit the answer into this post at some point.
Sadly pages 2-6 of this 7 page thread were lost, but for some reason page 7 survived, beginning with a classic vagsancho post...

From TUFFF... What is Wizard Series 2? I looked it up in Chapters (Indigo) and the whole site crashed for nearly half an hour. "Series 1" was the books as released by Wizard between 2002 and 2007 (numbered 1 to 27). "Series 2" is the books as released by Wizard between 2009 and 2011 (numbered 1 to 16). It isn't known if Blood of the Zombies is part of "Series 2" or not (as it lacks a number) (328) Despite your best efforts, you find yourself decaying in front of a computer screen. Your adventure ends here.
