This book was an interesting read. There are a lot of insta deaths, but the fights are fairly well balanced & the story is quality and rather original. I would absolutely love this book if it wasn’t for the multicoloured scales problem i.e. you need to FAIL your first luck roll in order to complete the adventure. There doesn’t seem to be any way around this, and although I understand the authors intentions (which I assume is to prevent a cheater from ever finding the true path), surely there could have been an alternative - but harder - path to victory written in there as well, to give lucky people a chance! This problem is further compounded by the successful roll required to unlock Izkhao (although you still have a 50% chance of winning if you don’t free him).
- Retreat to the other sarcophagus.
- Make your way out of the chamber without delay.
- Hurry through the chamber to the far end.
- Squeeze through the opening.
- Wait by the entrance.
- Roll D6. Note result.
- Add 6 to roll & record as Luck.
- Test Luck.
o Succeed = Start adventure again (see above).
o Fail = Add note: You have multicoloured scales.
- Ignore the command & walk up the stairs.
- Roll 2D6. Note result.

- Search among the ruined streets.
- Continue searching among the buildings.
- Chase after it.
- Attempt to befriend the mutant rider.
- Approach cautiously to find out more about it.
- Receive Power of Mutation. Codeword: Biantai.
- Test Luck. Fail = 1 Damage.
- Tell her about the dead man you found.
- You have a sword, do not use it. Use the rough wooden pole instead.
- Struggle to stay awake (2 Damage).
- Take Shrivelled Claw.
- Flee.
- Follow Velkos.
- Test Luck. Fail = 1 Damage.
- Follow the creatures into the cave.
- Go right.
- Go down the side tunnel.
- Stand and face it.
- Circle and dodge, wait for an opportunity.
- Receive Power of Disruption. Codeword: Baopo (+2 Luck).

- Take Brooch. Note ‘343’.
- Open it now. Note ‘152’ is an error; it should say Note down ‘325’.

- Set off on your own into the lusher lowlands.

- At end of fight, take 1 Damage.

- Swim over to your neighbour & talk.
- Climb out & volunteer to uphold justice with him.
- Take Jewelled Dagger.
- Name Shangsuo.
- You are wearing peasant clothes.
- Take Chang Whistle.
- Approach it cautiously.
- Bluff him.
- Attempt to escape.
- Take Battleplans (2 Damage).
- Investigate them.

- Trust him & join in his enchantment.

- Follow the bank towards the jungle.
