This article (recommended to me by my Firefox browser) interested me - it's long, erudite and detailed, and has lots of information about CYOA.
One piece of information which stuck out for me was that CYOA has had over 50 new titles published in the 21st Century. Other than that, it's effectively a long love letter about CYOA, something many of us here may have mixed feelings about.
It seems to have been published 12 September 2022 (i.e. as recently as 9 days ago).

Thanks for sharing, Charles X, an interesting article, that. It also inspired me to read Robert Coover's postmodern short story 'The Babysitter' which the article cites as a kind of precursor to the interactive fiction format. While it had some similarities to the form, with multiple simultaneous and often contradictory branching storylines, in terms of content it was a million miles away from the cosy world of CYOA (unless Montgomery or Packard wrote an especially disturbing unpublished title in their spare time involving infanticide and/or some other unsettlingly graphic scenarios contained in that short story of a nature that this forum is most certainly not an appropriate place to detail). Still, it was a good read though, and will definitely stay with me. Just, uh, not one to read with the kids.
