I couldn't seem to create a poll without a new thread, so I don't know whether this should be moved into Adventures Of Goldhawk thread as I perhaps would like. Either way I'm keen to get a feel for how many of us have read this series as well as how well-liked it is. I think the artwork and paper quality were both quite above-average, but as has been noted above the gameplay sounds pretty drossy. However, speaking personally I haven't read even one, I welcome your insights. Polling closes a week on Monday 20th Feb 10 p.m.

I never even knew these existed until a couple of years ago.

I reviewed each one on gamebooks.org if anyone is curious. The first three are for die-hard Livingstoners only. The fourth is pretty good though.

Only read the first. Seen the second one in a bookshop before, but never bought it. Never even seen the last 2 books before, so I assumed the sales weren't good enough for the bookstores to continue importing the series. Those were during the waning years of gamebooks in general, if I remember right.

How many entries in each Goldhawk book? Is it a continious story?

How many entries in each Goldhawk book? Is it a continious story? It's a bit of an unusual layout. Each has 21 sections, but the first 20 sections are subdivided into 4-6 subsections. So it's like you are initially introduced to something to deal with and the other subsections cover how you handle it. So I guess you could say there's about 100 entries in each book. Yes, it is a continuous story in some respects (same characters throughout and references are made to events in prior books) but each book has its own distinct plot and there's no carrying over equipment or anything like that.

So, one-thirds of those responding have come across Adventures Of Goldhawk and two-thirds only heard about it online. Given people who have heard of it are more likely to respond, and that we're all FF enthusiasts here, I suspect it might not be as well-known as that. Thank you Kieran for your concise feed-back suggesting the first three is more for Livingstone fans and the fourth might be worth reading, as for people who just like gamebooks or higher-quality artwork and paper (which I understand Adventures Of Goldhawk is) Adventures Of Goldhawk might be worth a second look, although I don't doubt there are better series out there. Thank you all participants!
