I also don't mind the hoarding but there has to be a point to it instead of just padding out a scene. For example, while I enjoyed Port of Peril, that initial setting is atrocious, consisting of, 'Ooo you have that? I'll trade you that for this!' for far too many paragraphs when it could be resolved in a single reference of 'You have enough Gold to buy 6 items from these 12. Buy what you wish then turn to...' Same result, simpler solution.

I would definitely enjoy a third book about the unusual and expensive hobby of Baron Sukumvit Charavask. Call it The Labyrinth Of Fang (or any of the other less jokey names suggested over on the "Brainstorm a good title for a Deathtrap Dungeon sequel" thread started by Charles X) and make it clear that paying out (if this one is beaten too) has completely bankrupted the Baron and left him unable to keep this racket going any longer. No more sequels after this one, please.

I have just seen an interview with Ian Livingstone that took place yesterday for World Gamebook day in which he has provided the biggest hint yet that he is planning to write a sequel or prequel to Deathtrap Dungeon.
He intimated that it is likely to happen to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original release of DD next year and its release will presumably coincide with FF Fest 5, due to take place in Sept 2024.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? I'd be thrilled to have DD3 from Ian considering his recent contributions have been quite fair in gameplay as opposed to his notorious earlier ones. I just hope it includes an original idea or twist behind it rather than a rehash of its predecessors or another basic generic dungeon.

Not so much shopping. Unpopular or not I've never been particularly into city adventures (stuff like City Of Thieves are exceptions, being more well-written than others), and EOTD, POP, AOA and SOTG all have shopping sections. I'm having visions of Sir Ian having a shopkeeper and a mercenary in the depths of Deathtrap Dungeon. I roleplay to be a warrior or wizard, not to buy, sell, and avoid card sharks, obvious cheats and pickpockets. On the positive side? Some unique monsters, maybe a bigger-than-average adventure, alternate routes to completion (and ways to pass enemies instead of swordplay), devious traps. Magic, as well.
