Yep. It's one of the possible random treasure rewards for killing the undead thingy in the castle hall.

A couple of earrings with a street value of around 1 Gold Piece.

City of Thieves?

Wrong.
Clue: all the incorrect guesses are equally close to the right answer, but in different ways.

Wrong. Clue: all the incorrect guesses are equally close to the right answer, but in different ways. Do you mean by distance? So at a location in Allansia which is about equally far from Blacksand, Firetop Mountain and Stonebridge? I'll take another punt: The Icefinger Mountains are spread across a wide range, so that might make sense. Tower of Destruction?

Not geographical distance. Legend of Zagor isn't even set on Titan, remember?
It's not Tower, either.

what material are these earrings make from? treasures that you come across rarely are depicted as plain.

The material is not specified. The book just says:

The sounds really Livingstonian. But then again,to be sure you need to have a number stamped on that object.
Armies of Death?

Not Armies.
The previous owner of the earrings was not wearing them, but had them in one of its pockets.

Crypt of the Sorcerer?

No.
The illustration of the earrings' former owner might have been less impressive if the subject had been wearing them.

Return to Firetop Mountain

Not Return.
As regards who wrote it, the phrasing of my answer would either be too misleading or a dead giveaway.

I now have images drifting through my mind of bloodbeasts, undead sorcerers, dragons and Zanbar Bone all wearing earrings…
Given that trying to be clever didn’t get me anywhere before (I’ve never read LoZ, so just assumed Firetop Mountain was involved somewhere) I’ll just have a clueless guess. Maybe the near miss bit of City of Thieves was that it is set in Blacksand… Midnight Rogue?

Not Midnight Rogue.
When I said that the first three guesses were equally close to the right answer, it had nothing to do with geography.

It's possible to make Starship Traveller's illustrations look less impressive?? In space, no one can hear you scream at terrible draughtsmanship.

Nice idea, but wrong. Though in its own way, Starship Traveller is just as close to the right book as Legend, Forest and City.
