I have decided to start a second series of polls based on the Cover Artwork. The polls will be in groups will be split into 10 gamebooks and will include all Puffin, Wizard and Scholastic varients of cover art. I will not however be including a seperate porthole version of cover for Scholastic or Wizard 2 if they have an ordinary one. I have seen somewhere that there were full page cover art for Scholastic 7 -12 and you can look at those when voting on them. I have decided however to stick with my standard 5 votes for simplicities sake. Feel free to voice your opinions and give reasons why you choose the ones you do. Have fun choosing your 5 favourite!

I'll repeat Misomiso's link, again, from the first poll, which can be used to view the Puffin and Wizard covers for the books in this poll.

Having only owned a couple of these as a lad, I'm less familiar with the cover art, so It'll be fun considering them all without nostalgia and the quality of the gamebook itself subconsciously affecting my choices.
Here is the one Scholastic cover in the poll (along with the full art for interest).

The Trial covers are very different, but both very striking in their way so both get a vote from me.
Heresy again I'm sure but I never liked the Puffin Creature of Havoc that much and Ball's is essentially a more dynamic retread of that. The Wizard cover on the other hand is brilliant, the devourer is one of the scarier cover beasties.
Much as I love the internal illustrations for Phantoms, that cover just doesn't work.
I like Masks' golem but the whole thing is just that grey-brown.
Midnight Rogue is quite an evocative cover so it gets a vote and I always liked the Star Strider alien so he can get my final vote.

I like Phantoms Of Fear, Star Strider and Beneath Nightmare Castle on the basis they are 'other-worldly', Phantoms Of Fear might not be the most beautiful but it's pretty evocative. Same with Chasms Of Malice, which looks like a bit like a pulp bestseller. I also prefer the newer Creature Of Havoc out of the choice, and I very much don't think you're alone in your opinion about the Puffin original - it's undoubtedly attention-grabbing but also garish, spoilery and unsubtle. Like you say, the Devourer beast is arguably a more appropriate opponent, who looks like a tough beast and you face in actual combat.

Cool, Ball‘s full size colour cover for Creature of Havoc is decent! Gets a vote from me. (I am pretending the actual cover isn’t the pothole version.) As do both the Trial covers, Star Strider and old mate Razaak the original
