There were quite a few very good indeed, like: Deathtrap Dungeon, Caverns of the Snow Witch, Talisman of Death, Slaves of the Abyss, Trial of Champions, and others... But somehow, someway, my feeling for this question points directly for one book:
House of Hell.

For once I'm in agreement with Vagsancho. House of Hell has my favourite para 400 of any FF book.

I also agree with those. And add Black Vein Priphecy, Knights of Doom, Legend of the Shadow Warriors, Spectral Stalkers, Portal of Evil, and Dead of Night.

Space Assassin!
Just kidding. Of the ones Ive read so far its also House of Hell for sure. The final piece of artwork captured it perfectly too.

I quite like the scroll and treasure pics for the Warlock of Firetop Mountain - a bit cheesy but they really give a sense of accomplishment.

Ive heard somewhere that in crystal of storms'ending, in the paragraph 400, the champion wins a beautifull bundle of roses.

I might go with Caverns of the Snow Witch as well, nicely done, although I doubt anyone could possibly make the wrong choice at the end.
Outside FF, the endings of two of the Bloodbones works - Kingdom of Wyrd and the conclusion to the entire series - are both epic.

The ending to Legend of the Shadow Warriors is beautiful, especially as it requires some thought to reach.
Though in terms of pure gameplay, Trial of Champions is the most satisfying to complete.

I thought Charles X's Intros thread deserved a sister thread!
Without being too spoilerific, the three that stand out to me most are:
- After everything that the protagonist suffers during Caverns of the Snow Witch, just living to see the sun rise over the peak of Firetop Mountain is reward enough after the long slog they have just been through. Soothing, calming and soul-satisfying.
- Creature of Havoc tying up the threads of its mystery in a deeply gratifying way, as well as incorporating a suitably horrible twist.
- Legend of the Shadow Warriors' unexpectedly, but welcomely, beautiful and really quite moving conclusion.

I like the pic of the treasure chest in Warlock of Firetop Mountain - somehow much more satisfying than just a description of its contents.
Black Vein Prophecy answers a lot of questions without completely spelling everything out for you, letting it retain a certain sense of mystery.

Citadel Of Chaos, in the ending: Any newbie will be blown away being told they have to fight all the way through the Citadel again if they don't have a Levitation spell! Masks Of Mayhem for its audacity, it's like the ending of a Japanese game.

- Creature of Havoc tying up the threads of its mystery in a deeply gratifying way, as well as incorporating a suitably horrible twist. Once you know what's behind some of the wrong doors of the Galleykeep, that ending starts to look as if it's going to be a very short-lived victory. Sure, you've thwarted Marr, but you're alone and (implicitly) naked on a vessel crewed by his minions, and even if the rank and file Hobgoblin troops 'will respect your authority', I don't think Quimmel Bone or the Master of Hellfire are going to just sit by and let you reassume control.

Do we need two separate threads about favourite endings? I think not.
