Still about the illustrations: am I the only one who looks at the illustration in (240) and finds the base of the stone cross a lot like the pedestal where the Eye of Basilisk rests in Midnight Rogue?
No you are certainly not. Btw, it's worth having a go at Dead of Night with minimum stat rolls. Whole new ball game!

If you're referring to gameplay difficulty, Dead Of Night is pretty well-balanced, especially for FF where many books are too hard and others are too easy. You succeed about 40% of the time with stats that are bottom or close-to-bottom, 60% with average stats, 80-95% with above-average stats (so by no means certain).
If you're referring to the path taken, swapping routes depends on whether or not you recognise the Skill bonus given by the Potion of Heroism, which technically you very much shouldn't.

Wish there was confirmation as to whether or not you should be able to get the Skill bonus from the potion since the way it is described seems to strongly lean to an Attack Strength bonus. If using strict rules as written, Skill 8 should still see you through fairly easily. Lots of different ways to win but each can be made more interesting depending on how high or low your stats are. Moonrunner is another on that does this extremely well.
