Night Dragon Skill: 7 Stamina: 17 Luck: 12 Kills: 3 Pilgrims. Died to Assassins. The End I doubt that it'd make much difference, but it looks as if you forgot that this book gives you bonus points to add to attributes during character creation, so you could potentially have been Sk 8 St 19.

I thought I checked for that but I didn't see anything. Looking forward to getting to it in my play through. It's on pages 7-8 of the rules. To sum up: As you're a veteran adventurer, you get two bonus points. A point can be used to add 1 Skill or Luck, or 2 Stamina. You can't use both on the same attribute, or raise Skill or Luck above 12, so literally all you could do with those rolls was increase Skill & Stamina.

24-hour warning for peasantscribbler and thealmightymudworm, plus nathanh's potential try at NotN, anyone else wanting a shot at the alternative title, and newcomers.
Week 49 This century - Prey of the Hunter (Fighting Fantazine 3) Last century - The Rings of Kether
Reaching section 391 or 400 of Rings counts as a win.

Rings of Kether Weapon Strength 10 Shields 1 Skill 11 Stamina 15 Luck 10
items: 4500 kopecks, 7 pep pills, satophil-d kills: Zera Gross. Asteroid Defences, Blaster Babbet info: I've never been happier to roll a 10 in my life
With only a single shield, it all came down to whether or not the asteroid defences would hit me or not. The dice gods clearly smiled upon me, I rolled a 10 meaning it missed and both my shots were on target. Everything else was a piece of cake with 11 skill to my name.

I'm not sure if there's any way to do it in the quick reply section but if you click the "reply" button you can click the button furthest to the right to add spoilers. The icon is a smiley face with a finger in front of its mouth.

Played Night Dragon (I own it, and don't own and can't access NotN)
SKILL 10 +1 = 11 STAMINA 18 LUCK 7 + 1 = 8 Rolled just 3 for gold
Long story short, I managed to get to the conclave and then picked up The Shield, but whilst seeking The Sword and after climbing down a well like a normal person, I got sucked out of a door. I could have survived if I'd chosen to spend 3 LUCK points before the roll but screw that.
Fights won: 3 x assassins, white stalker, Bagghurd (not technically a kill), 2 x Stonemelders, Stench Ghoul

I found the Time Track in Night Dragon incredibly tedious. It really detracts from immersion in the book to have to keep returning to your Adventure Sheet every other paragraph to add a small number to it.

I hated the days of the week mechanics in Secrets Of Salamonis, but didn't entirely mind the Time Track in Night Dragon. It's like you're on an epic quest and your enemy is getting stronger all the time. It also impacts all sorts of decisions such as how many days you want to work to buy food and helpful equipment. Where the mechanic in Secrets Of Salamonis only affects whether you can shop and meet the taxman, the underwhelming Warlock dream, and when you're at the endgame.

Where the mechanic in Secrets Of Salamonis only affects whether you can shop and meet the taxman, the underwhelming Warlock dream, and when you're at the endgame. I didn't love keeping track of the days in SoS (though I haven't played that to the finish yet) or Stormslayer, but the Time Track here was worse. The sheer frequency (sometimes on four consecutive references) that ND requires you to note a Time change. The completely anonymous nature of a Time unit – they're not individually very bad (or good or firey) or even a recognisable unit like a day. They're completely without a gauge – no ultimate limit or suggestion that being at 30 or 40 at a given point is good/bad. I encountered one consequence in meeting a stalker, but I understand from the solution that the effects of a high Time score are mostly not dramatic.
The way timekeeping was done in Fangs of Fury was ideal in theory: a 14 unit countdown representing cities falling and ending in automatic death – complete with little flags to shade in! In practice it was difficult (though not impossible) to fail that way.

Night Dragon was a book I liked a lot more as a kid. Presumably because I didn't bother tracking time/nemesis/honour etc... The story itself still holds up but it's a lot more tiresome to play than I'd remembered from childhood.

I tried Prey of the Hunter.
Skill 8 Stamina 20 Luck 7
Kills 2 Aquanarians and a Skinhead.
Killed by second Skinhead.
I am sorry whoever wrote this as I am a biased opinion because I hate all Sci Fi (or at least I haven't found one I have liked yet.) but this wasn't great. I thought the timeline was clever and very interesting (though the chances of Europe uniting by 2027 is very slim.) But the fact that one of the last remaining of a once powerful race decides to play with his prey not just kill it. This is far better than Starship Traveller though.

The Rings of Kether Sk9 St15 Lu9 WS10 Sh1
Just as well you can take pep pills during combat or I would have died a couple of times in this one. Of course no pep pills could help me in trying to blast through the asteroid defences with 1 shield point - especially as I'd already used up one of my smart missiles. Not that that ended up mattering as they shot me down with their first shot.
Kills:5-10 depending how you count it Robot Fighter x2 (used a smart missile to take out one of them) Assassin Androform Guard x4 (took them all out with a hand grenade) Antarian Robot Zera Gross
