Comments? Dream on. <-- you need to use the creepy doctor from hell voice from Jacob's Ladder to be really effective.

Keep it up Warren! They're interesting. Can't promise one a day forever, but I'll try my best to keep it fairly regular.

What's your FF soundtrack? The audio tracks on the Deathtrap Dungeon computer game CD.

Were there separate audio tracks?

On the version I bought there are, so the disc can be used for playing the game or as a music CD.

Just catching up on the sub-series posts. Interesting stuff. As a relative FF lightweight I hadn't given a lot of thought to them, partly as I don't own all these books - although I do remember trying to convince myself that The Crimson Tide was impossible to complete because I hadn't read Black Vein Prophecy and the winning option was hidden in there somehow. The 'Isles of the Dawn' or 'Maior' duology: Black Vein Prophecy and The Crimson Tide, both written (at least in part) by Paul Mason, set in the Isles of the Dawn, and featuring recurrent characters, including Maior and Poo Ta. The hero cannot be the same individual in the two books (and indeed the heroes from the two books may meet). Only if you discount adoption, memory wiping and time-travel.
Re: walkthroughs - there's obviously a real love of the books as puzzles involved in the decoding and distilling of each into a quality walkthrough. Nowhere is that more apparent than in Champskees's carefully crafted mini-walkthroughs to the 'actually you give up and get a job' endings in TCT. (I'm sort of hoping that he eventually does these for all the book endings which aren't simple deaths: How to become a fish, a living skeleton or a dead arm speeding through the oceans forever in DotD, for example.) I do wonder if some of the authors would learn something new about their own books by reading them...

Yes, you can see that Champskees has really enjoyed doing these. I like his brief observations about the adventures too.

And without them, we'd never have had the fake walkthrough of Island of the Undead, which is one of the greatest April Fool's gags I've ever seen perpetrated.

Favourite Gamebook Series: Fighting Fantasy (Sorcery!)

I appreciate these, as I like to create characters that go beyond mere Skill/Stamina/Luck statistics. I give them names and backstories - in fact, this year's NaNoWriMo project is adapting the Sorcery! books into novel form. I've actually been thinking of doing this for many years, and finally got going a few weeks ago. Considering that my character's backstory starts years before the events of this quest, I would appreciate if anyone can tell me if there have been other published adventures taking place in the Old World. I started building a family tree for my characters, and some of them are related to each other. For example, I decided that the character from Cavern of the Snow Witch/Forest of Doom (who is male) is eventually going to meet and marry the character from Sorcery! (who is female; yes, this will require one of them to travel to the other continent; I assume they have trans-oceanic travel on Titan). If this violates any canon dates, I really don't care. This is the story that's been running around in my head for the last 20 years or more, and it's time to get it written down.

Sounds interesting! More female characters in FF can only be a good thing. Trans-oceanic travel is fine, as are the dates.

I'm thinking that this will be done by me in future (it might be next year though, got a lot on my plate)... But yeah, those mini guides took FOREVER... had to go through every single paragraph to check for any endings I left out, almost lost interest, towards the end just powering on until it was done. Will not touch that book again for a long time.
