Sounds like something in a Jon Green or Stephen Hand book. Is it Legend of the Shadow Warriors?

It seems you may need a hand. Fine, here's a clue.

It's the only item you can retrieve from Magrand's mill before it collapses in Dead of Night.
How about some green, leathery leaves with six lobes?

I am sure it is Sorcery but which book? I am at work so I cannot check. It must be The Seven Serpents or The Crown Of Kings. The Seven Serpents is bucolic. So?
The Seven Serpents.

Yes, they can be found in the Forest of the Snatta just before you encounter the Fire Serpent.

No. A tiny clue is it is one of the standard 1-59 books.

Based on something greenspine said some time ago, the level of detail suggests it would be from a Keith Martin book...
Or maybe it is just a shuriken from Sword of the Samurai.
I'll go with Samurai.

No. I'm not quite devious enough to describe a shuriken like that. It does have a name as well as a description but I thought it would be too obvious if I gave that as it's not an obscure item. It's not a weapon, though there is a point at which you might throw it when confronted by a particular enemy.
