Same! This thread is 5 pages of shame I must bear for being such a bad fan (or bad fan with bad memory)!

I don't know Siege as well as some do. To me that extract just reads as an encounter with some bad guy you've been trying to bluff and it hasn't worked out. There are plenty of those in FF it could be, e.g. Ungoth, Moonrunner's Corpse Master... Although now I think about it, neither of them has a face to get tense with fury. Speaking of not knowing a book as well as some do, it occurred to me that if someone doesn't know Sword of the Samurai, the in-jokes around the previous reference might be a bit baffling. So here's a straight down the line explanation: If you encounter charcoal burners a boy insults you and your Shogun. If you show them that you're not to be messed with, his father may take you back to the village. There you discover that the villagers are not normal people at all, but undead Rokuro-Kubi, whose heads detach at nighttime and can fly at you. One of the outcomes for you (not the worst one actually) is that you might tumble down a well. I'm wondering whether Evilwizard just recognised a fellow Evil Wizard?! Yes I can almost hear him muttering to himself "I'd never have fallen for that amulet s*** like that idiot, I'd have just faeleorn rath mardex-ed their a*** at the start."

Something in your voice betrays you. His hands move in front of him and he looks at you quizzically. Is he reading your mind?

More of a neutral wizard than an EvilWizard but that is the Master of Frogs in Scorpion Swamp if you fail your Luck Test when blagging that you are there to find creatures for Baron Sukumvit’s Deathtrap Dungeon. 🐸 Classic stuff. 😀

I hope that the slaughter of this old fellow was justified... 😬
Your first blow is fatal. Blood spurts from a gaping wound and the old man falls to the ground.

The ending of Talisman Of Death, when you kill the Red Dragon pretending to be an old man. It was definitely justified.

"Visitors" says a voice. The creature is roughly man-sized and wears a flowing white cape. "We have not had visitors for many years".

The skeleton is surrounded by a shadowy body sprouting two small horns, with glowing coals of pure malevolence in the eye-sockets of the skull.

Difficult, as skeletons are 10 a penny in Fighting Fantasy.
At first I thought it was The Skeleton with the crown which instantly kills you unless you've passed the veil 1 in 6 in Masks Of Mayhem. Then I thought maybe it was: The Skeleton King in Midnight Rogue, but I don't think it's him. But I think it might be: The Skeletal Dragon in Legend Of Zagor.
I think: It might be Masks Of Mayhem or Legend Of Zagor - or the Horned Skeleton in Dead Of Night. If I can only make one guess, I'm guessing The Horned Skeleton - but let me know if any of the others hit the mark!

I have no clue so I am just going to throw in some ideas. It could be Ungoth from Crypt of the Sorcerer. Or maybe the Master of Hellfire from Creature of Havoc.

As you search the body, you try to avoid looking at the terrible face, grey and decomposing. Maggots crawl from its nose and mouth. You jump back startled when its eyes suddenly flick open! Just in time you avoid a vicious slash from its long fingernails. It quickly springs to its feet and eyes you with a sadistic leer spreading across its mouth.

This is undoubtedly what happens if you search the body which is actually a ghoul in The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. I figured I'd better answer this as fast as possible before the ghoul sinks its teeth into my rump everyone piles in.

The stairs end at a landing, where you come to a door of black wood embellished with runes inlaid in silver. As you try to open it, the handle turns into a claw and grasps your wrist. 'Leave this place,' the door intones sonorously, 'you're not allowed in here' The claw releases your hand. A talking door!

Neither of those, I know the bit that you're thinking of, Linflas, but if you persist with trying to get past this door it doesn't start rambling about a soft felt elf, it just punches you in the gut!
As for NotN I've never played it, although I did pick up a copy at FFFV. Edit: or that one, Sylas.
I'm quite pleased that this hasn't been a 5 minute, first guess job.

That's right. If you do burst through you can then wring a soundless bell and summon a ghost. Your turn.

You manage to force open the secret door with your hands- and a springloaded spear comes flying out! You just manage to evade a lethal direct hit, but the wound it gives you as it grazes your rib-cage stings badly and weakens you. Deduct 2 points from your STAMINA. Worse still, the small chamber behind the door is empty save for a fine coating of dust, and maybe it was just your imagination, or perhaps there really was the sound of laughter just then...
If you are still alive, will you:

If you are still alive, will you: Assuming that this is the paragraph that you want people to find, I don't think it needs to be in spoilers... people might think that you're saying this is what happens if you bash down the door in my paragraph.
