Hello im Rafael from Brazil. I was born in 1980 and ive got to know my first FF book in the early of the 90's. It was Citadel of Chaos. A birthday gift of my father. And what a great gift! I was completely inside on that world going underground of the citadel, meeting creatures to fight, sometimes make friends with them, and then crawling the citadel room by room. What an amazing book.
I even cant remember how manny times i replayed it but i know that book was with me for a long time. I only remember trying to read another of the books, i thought was firetop mountain, and i let it go of the reading because it was not on pair with the citadels. Expectations were running wild.
Later on i would give it a try for more of sci-fi stuff like rebel planet, starship traveller, hero mood with appointment with fear and mad max style with freeway fighter. All great, one by one.
I gave a try to the medieval theme once more with sword of the samurai. I loved it a lot also. But busy years of a teenager come to me while i was running deep on my own personal adventures and believe me they were a lot. Followed by the years of entering adulthood i never took sight of my books again. I even dont remember what happened, and thats a shame. And thats the part that makes me feel bad looking to the past.
The original collections had the most beautifull front covers. Now they have been republished here but i dislike all the frontcovers.
As a not so old dad now of 1 girl and 2 boys, i decided to give them rpg plays on the holidays. I also get amused how they liked it. All the pen, dice and paper stuff. Happy moment. To get rid their attetion off the screens. We played bloodbones from tincan but i already started to get hand of the physical books ordering on the net. Citadel first ofc.
I also decided to look what was the things about FF that i didnt like much, mainly rolling random stats, and start to work on something more free to stimulate creativity of the boys.
The younger and tiny one like to play with trolls and dwarfs. The other created a sorcerer hence the name fertobardi.
Im excited to talk about what im thinking and check the opinions. I also havent heard about AFF system till now. And i liked a lot the damage tablet of it showing the most common weapons. I wonder if it says something about defense for armors and shields. I will dig.
Thanks for this community to bring back all that good nostalgia back. FF should spread and live on tru the generations.

Hello all -
My name is Gareth. I loved the Fighting Fantasy books as a kid and recently in the course of house renovations I unearthed my old collection. I have been re-reading them with much enjoyment.
I'm really interested in the art in all these old game books (I have a few Lone Wolf volumes as well). I like to draw and was thinking of drawing images in the style of some of the illustrations, to see if I could learn some of the illustrator's techniques. If I draw something, I would love to share it here.
Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to post an image here. Is there a 'how to use the forums' page I missed? I have checked the 'Help' manual. Unfortunately, the only articles I can find say I need to either click on a +Add Files button or on a 'toolbar' directly above the message area. I can't see either the button or the toolbar.
Can anyone help me out?
EDIT: the toolbar appears when I select 'edit' for the post - but not before I have posted? Do I have that right? It's confusing! Is there any way to upload images / attachments before you post? Or do you have to post and then 'edit' to create a post with images?

Welcome, everyone. Hi Klea! Hope you enjoy this site. As she says Klea has been on here for some time. She was actually the 19th person to join this forum over 10 years ago – I was the 20th just a few hours later. When I posted my first amateur adventure ( Creature of Hangover) soon after, she was the first to suggest it would be most fun to play if the sections were spoilered. I'm still waiting hopefully for her playthrough though!
Sadly, I think Klea's posts still represent something like 20-30% of the contributions from women/girls on here.

Most of my books and gaming stuff is still packed away. All I've got to hand are 3 FF books, and I've no idea where my dice are. I suppose I could make do with an online dice roller, but it's just not the same. Still, I made a promise and shall keep it (albeit far too many years later, for which I sincerely apologize).

On first reading this, I was going to say that I'm now so used to using random.org or the dice roller app on my desktop that I don't need to have dice handy any more, before realising that I literally had some in my pocket at that moment (and still do). Anyway, just to mention that smithyrob on here made the adventure into an audio project on YouTube in case you fancied playing it in a different format (but please leave any comments on the forum thread). It won't solve the dice problem though.
