I just bought the Mistress of Sorrows (DR01) and hope to have a first read soon. The first impression is a bit mixed as the selected fonts make it look like a school report and some filer illustrations are repeated very often. Also, IMO cream coloured paper would be a better fit but that might be an issue with Amazon printing it. Any one already played it? I hope to give it a go soon...

Also, IMO cream coloured paper would be a better fit but that might be an issue with Amazon printing it. Any one already played it? I hope to give it a go soon... What did you make of it? Any good? It is dark and grim and has a lot of deadly fights. I like the way I can distribute points to my attributes Prowess/Skill and Health/Stamina. It is very much in the tradition of Fighting Fantasy with its own spin. I don't know if I like Resolve-mechanic. It is a good indicator if you are on the right track. You are trying to optimize you decisions to raise its value. On the other hand it is too closely bound to the mental state which often in no way reflects my current mood. I only had one session with it yet, I dunno if or when I will have another run.
The writing at times presents sequences of very short and very long paragraphs which is at times weird or surprising.
Now, I am even more disappointed with the quality of Amazon's printing. The cover and the back are losing flakes of the colored print. Maybe the gum-like matte finish is the reason. I have other POD gamebooks that are in better condition after years.
