With sadness I've just left the old Rebuilding_Titan Yahoo! group. I know it has been defunct for years, with the moderator having disappeared and it being taken over by spammers (Yahoo! have refused to listen to our compaints about it), but I kept up my membership in the hope that the moderator would one day return and to have access to the great discussions that went on on that group. But recently the spam has got worse and extremely dubious, so I searched for messages I had posted, copied the interesting ones, and have left the group. Looking back over the early years on the group, there was some great discussion of Titan in all its wonders. Good times! As I note in my wiki summary of the group: fightingfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Rebuilding_Titan

Section 142 gives me a sinking feeling. Back when I first played this adventure, as soon as I read about the Crusader's having got a girlfriend, I thought something along the lines of "I really hope this isn't the tired 'new romantic interest turns out to be a villain' cliché." For all I know, it isn't - I've not had an attempt at the adventure last long enough to find out how Helen fits into the plot, if at all. But Max's warning that my enemies are closer than I think does seem to be pointing that way. Basically when I came up with the parameters/outline of my tale I conceived of more material than I could squeeze into my already lengthy "mini" adventure. Stuff like Helen thus became set-up material for a sequel which I'd like to pen at some point. While your train of thought above (love-interest-is-actually-the-villain) is what I first conceived when plotting out my Crusade tale, between coming up with the idea and actually writing the adventure (about a year at least) it had become a cliche in various movies, so I dropped that idea.

Thanks for all this feedback Ed. Really valuable. I'd love for you to play-test future mini adventure for the magazine if you were able to fit it into your obviously busy schedule. I'll try and look at the points you've raised above when I can, but my new teaching job is currently sucking up all my time.

The simplest way of resolving these problems would be to have the criminals attack one at a time. Which would also make the fight a lot less likely to prove fatal to characters with a not-so-great Skill score (unless that's part of the point). Alternatively, the rules section needs to explain how to handle the fight. In which case the best approach would be a new variant, in which the opponents must be attacked in the specified sequence, though the others still all get a chance to try and hit you while you're concentrating on the earliest remaining one. I'd go with the 'one Attack Strength for yourself' version just to cut down on additional rolls, but if Alex wants to make the readers suffer, the 'separate Attack Strength against each opponent' option is viable. Change the target number of rounds from 25 to 20 to virtually eliminate the possibility of taking out the fifth criminal too soon (Energy Blast and use of Luck would still allow a slim chance), and the whole set-up will become a lot more workable. Didn't want to make readers suffer! Just wanted it to be more of a free-for-all fight rather than the enemies taking turns to fight the hero (which in my mind always looks silly). If I've stuffed up there on the first fight, then on the other multiple fight occasions I've probably stuffed up too.

I too had family copy that was lost to the ravages of time.
There was a recent kick starter attempt to bring it back (via some Spanish copyright loop hole) but it was stopped by the copyright holders.

Alex, I don't mean to contradict you, as I'm sure you most definitely know more than I do, but... several sources hint at Bloodbones being 60... see the link above, but also user.tninet.se/~wcw454p/docs/ffw26.txtIt appears it was designed to be number 60 back before the Puffin series was cancelled... or so I read online... I wrote most of that page (the wiki one, not the link in the quote above)! See my article on the book in issue #11.

I understand that. I assigned those numbers based on publication order. Eye was published in 2005 and Bloodbones in 2006.
Yes, Bloodbones was meant to be #60, but then Night of the Creature was meant to be #61. Really, publication order is the only way to do this due to the mish-mash of titles.
Eye was published as a non-FF short adventure in 1982. Bloodbones was written as a 300 reference adventure in 1995 but revised and published as a 400 reference story in 2006 (complete with different interior art).

If numbering were to continue from the end of the Puffin series...
60 Eye of the Dragon 61 Bloodbones 62 Howl of the Werewolf 63 Stormslayer 64 Night of the Necromancer 65 Blood of the Zombies

Mini adventures, my own artwork (ahem!), solutions or guides. We have a new solutions column starting in issue 13 written by this forum's very own Champskees. As for art, we are always interested in new artists. Drop the magazine a line (editor at fightingfantazine dot co dot uk) to get in touch. And yes we have mini-adventures as well. Issue 13 has a American Old West FF adventure and a mini AFF adventure. Issue 14 has a Lone Wolf adventure.

Hence why I'm NOT doing a marathon at the moment! - I'll be mightily cheesed off if I get through the black & white stuff only for the rumoured 90 episode 'omnirumour' thingy turns oot tae be true!! Watched Enemy of the world on the anniversary - that was awfy braw! The rumour is it'll take the next 3 years (2014-2016) to release it all so  I'm only at The Space Museum and I'm not fussed if I have to re-watch stuff - it's Doctor Who, my favourite programme after all. And any way, watching actual episodes will be totally different to watching animations/recons.

A local aristocrat is making life a misery for everyone - or rather his dogs are. He refuses to keep them under any kind of control and they roam everywhere scaring people and generally s****ing all over the place. Can YOU persuade him to use some dog leads - either with charm or poking him with something sharp? Keeping the Leash Lord?

In your old home town, the thing on top of the spire that should indicate the direction in which the wind is blowing has become loose, and no longer works properly. This was foretold, and your whole life has been leading up to the opportunity to fix it. But the intervention of a robber causes you to wake up with no recollection of your steeplejack training. Can you relearn the appropriate skills and make the necessary repairs before your brother can take over the family business? Broken Vane Prophecy?
