Between this and Blacksand, I wonder if this will be how every future AFF publication will be funded. Was Blacksand a Kickstarter project too? I've not purchased it yet. To be honest, Inkle and Tin Man aside, the whole of FF looks a bit shaky at the minute. And that includes the online community. There has been next to no activity on any of the forums (including this one) recently, and I'd have thought there might be some buzz about Sorcery! 2 at least. And it would be nice to see a bit more reaction to the Fantazine, which contains so much good stuff. Blacksand was on indiegogo (which amounts to the same thing). Yes, FF is about the solo books and I feel the community really needs those coming out to keep things upbeat.

I see from Stuart Lloyd's tweets that Beyond the Pit has been put on Kickstarter. I don't know how I feel about this - I thought it was definitely going ahead as a regular publication. Still, the goal of £3000 doesn't look unlikely, especially as the minimum pledge is £22 and they are already at £1134. It looks like they need the money to pay royalties to the original FF artists. Between this and Blacksand, I wonder if this will be how every future AFF publication will be funded.

Sorcery! 2 out today. From the trailer, it looks fantastic. If it's half as good as the first one, it will be, and by the looks of things it is MUCH bigger. Shall be buying it this evening (I'll get no work done today if I buy it now!). Downloaded it this morning (NZ time!) and gave it a whirl with the class I was teaching today (we got as far as inside the gates of the city in 10 minutes of play).

Hi all, so far we have:
*an interview with Peter Darvill-Evans *a mini FF adventure by Gaetano Addondanza *a mini AFF adventure by Jenny Green
and I'm assuming we'll have Jamie, Adrian, Dan and Ed's columns/articles. But we'll need a few articles to help fill up the issue, so submit some ideas to me!

As far as I'm aware, whatever flaw made it necessary for me to start every Challenge thread on MC's forum (or people to start them in the wrong place and me move them) doesn't apply here. Yes, you should find this place a bit more flexible with regard to posting, plus various plug-ins can be added to give extra functionality (like the "spoiler" tags I added earlier in the week!).

In the meantime, I've managed to download and save two other similar kinds of files, and everything works normally. Okay, just tried it again, and I couldn't see anything - just a blank grey page. And just before I was about to submit this post, my Adobe reader suddenly decided to pop up and work properly like it should have over an hour ago. This is weird. Within the last 15 minutes I was able to download the rules to a Star Trek RPG I'm thinking of joining, but FF12 took over an hour...? I'm in the process of re-uploading the file. Are you saying you have a copy now? The length of time may be an issue on our end, not having tons of bandwidth to play with?

Okay, I did that, and I still can't. It doesn't appear in my list of downloads, and if I click on the icon to download (as in save), nothing happens. There should be a message popping up asking if I want to open it or save, and this isn't happening. Also, I was wondering if the "Fighting Fantazine" part of the title is supposed to be partially cut off on the bottom half? There has to be something wrong at your end, as I've just tried opening the file on the website which works fine for me. The picture you've put up does suggest an error on your end, as if your browser is trying to display the file prematurely. The file is 46.52MB in size.

That's great, but it won't let me download it. Try emptying the cache on your browser to see if that fixes the problem.

Wonder which episodes have recently been found. Hopefully they won't be episodes that have already been animated! The current rumour is all of "Enemy of the World" and 2,4-6 of "Web of Fear". Been following this rumour on forum threads for two years now!

Simon once had them all up at his site Outspaced, but I think he was given a cease and desist about 3 years ago and they are gone now.

What did others make of this? I had never played the book, so got this app on a whim. Very enjoyable and having Will Wheaton read it is hugely amusing!

Go with Warren's suggestion. Draw them in pencil, then go over with a black art pen. Erase the pencil markings and scan (300dpi is best). Then either you or I can play with the file in an art application (photoshop etc.) to make sure whites are white (rather than the cream of paper) and any other embellishments. On the other hand, Steve Luxton has offered to do the maps for you. If you'd like me to say "yes" to him? Well I was thinking about doing it myself since you've given me great advice, but then when you casually mentioned STEVE LUXTON below my jaw dropped to the floor. Basically, I'd be honoured if Steve illustrated the adventure! If you're happy with that, send through your rough sketches along with any notes you think would help Steve and I'll pass them on to him.

Do you have a guesstimate as to when the issue will be ready? I'm particularly interested in the Khare article (never could pin down just where the heck that marketplace was, as it seemed to be in about 6 places at once). This week for definite (i.e.. on or before Friday).

I'm working on the AFF adventure right now. My main issue right now though is what method to use for making the maps. I'd quite like to hand-draw them but it won't look particularly sharp if I just went and scanned it in. Anyone got any ideas? Go with Warren's suggestion. Draw them in pencil, then go over with a black art pen. Erase the pencil markings and scan (300dpi is best). Then either you or I can play with the file in an art application (photoshop etc.) to make sure whites are white (rather than the cream of paper) and any other embellishments. There was a part of me thinking that, for the dread issue 13, there is the chance to say something nice about Sky Lord, but that's probably pushing things too far... If you want to try putting together a defence...

What kind of Fighting Fantasy adventure would you really like to read/play or even write? Here are some I'd love to have the time to write but probably never will: 1) A 'Heart of Darkness' style adventure involving a boat-trip up a river to confront the insane horrors in the heart of the jungle. 2) A lava swathed, dinosaur infested treasure hunt in some island full of snakes, natives, ancient ruins, and rival bands of adventurers. 'Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs' in other words. 3) More adventures in Khare. I've started two different ones over the years (a Fabled Lands style open exploration one and a murder investigation one). 3) Deathtrap Dungeon III, for the hell of it! (Maybe not by IL though) Won't one those be the next mini FF adventure you pitch to the magazine? :hint, hint:

But surely you are running all this at a loss already? I guess I kind of assumed the 0.5-0.7 cost of an online download would contribute to maintenance etc for the magazine and its online presence. A negligible loss. Another FF fan has given me free hosting space, so the only thing I'm paying for is the URL. Anything else is my own free time I give to the magazine.
