Attempted Queen of Shades, failed
SKILL 9 STAMINA 24 LUCK 9 Gold: 5
This is the third Fantazine adventure I've tried, after Escape and Angela, and it feels a step up though I'm perhaps easily impressed as I don't know how much of this is borrowed from Sorcery. A frustrating first time playthrough as my LUCK and STAMINA drained away, but worth another go in the future to remedy that.
Inventory: quarterstaff, knife, beeswax candle, rope
Fights won: Dog Man, Soldier Mant
– killed by Serpentine in merchant's house.

I went with Darkmoon's Curse I know this one pretty well so the only real challenge was rolling well against the Banshee. Which I did. I can now be crowned King of Karazan and keep doping the real Goldhawk to make sure he stays in a coma.
Combats won: Dark Knight Orc Skullbeast Banshee
Unused items: 1. Sad Sam's Key 2. Ring of Lightning 3. Pouch of Jewels

Resurrection of the Dead. Wooooo.
Skill: 7 Stamina: 17 Luck: 7
I get the impression this one will be quite short.
Information: Etonen ins’xin Naven osis ihteno
Add 30 to get a weapon
Rosie Fletcher, the town wise woman at 147 King’s West.
And...as expected...first fight kills me. By the time I was facing the Crypt Stalkers, luck was down to 5, and, with a skill below both of them, they were both able to grab me and inflict major stamina loss without me being able to escape.

I apparently made mostly bad decisions in my attempt at Resurrection of the Dead, as I kept getting punished with luck point losses. I ended up being killed in a really tough fight against two Crypt Stalkers. For the record, it was the First Crypt Stalker who killed me.
Initial Stats: Skill=8, Stamina=23, Luck=12
Fights Won (1) Second Crypt Stalker
Items Acquired Sword Note with some gibberish
Information learned: The note with the gibberish I guess.

Alex once explained that the Luck point losses were to make the reader appreciate the Luck bonuses that are apparently provided later on. Presumably, if he ever employs anybody, he makes sure to bankrupt them before paying their wages to ensure that they are suitably thankful.

A needlessly long battle against a LIVING CORPSE drained most of my stamina and I was finished off by a ZOMBIE.
Sk 9 St 21 Lu 8 Kills: decayer, living corpse. Nothing useful learned.

With a Skill of 7 (reduced to 4 for lacking a weapon) in Resurrection, I knew my chances were poor. So when I encountered a trio of Possessed Goats, two of which outclassed me Skill-wise, I decided to take advantage of the Escape option for once. And it took me straight into an inescapable fight against a Skill 10 Xoroa Warrior. Not sure whether that's bad design or authorial malice, but it's certainly not making me a fan of the adventure.
As for Darkmoon, the number of times that blasted Banshee has killed me increased by one.
24-hour warning for schlendrian and thealmightymudworm.

The lords have successfully been stoned! skill: 12 stamina: 19 luck: 9 items: 10 provisions, 1 earth runestone, 2 fire runestones, 1 air runestone, 2 water runestones, hooded cloak, potion of skill, sacrificial knife, warhammer, charm of learning, Griffon Shield, snattacat boots, fur cloak, healing salve, healing potion, potion of stamina, iron key fights: pneumozone, dark elf, stone golem, cave manticore, fog elemental, Mor Orthor, 2 fire sprites, Mor Orthor, Elemental Supreme info: key is in the wall Guide: Champskees (but with slight modifications) I could have saved even more of my runestones if not for the book forcing me to use them but still, after my luck in recent weeks, a win is a nice change of pace.

Lords of Stone then.
Sk 10 St 22 Lu 9
Not bad. Let's give it a lash. Will take a Luck potion.
And, bloody hell, these Stonebridge dwarfs are a complete bunch of tosspots. They lose their hammer, can't get it back themselves, and one they can't be bothered to deal with an existential threat to them? Frankly, my first adventuring choice would be to tell King Gillbran to piss or get off the pot. If they can't look after themselves, then emigrate.
Loot:
Runestones: 2xE, A, F, 2xW (used: 2E, A, W, F) Runestones gained: E, W, A (used: E) Rope Green jewel Potion of skill (left as offering) Sacrificial knife (thrown into Mor Orthor) Healing potion (1x4St) Potion of stamina (1x8St) - drunk Bat key
Opponents: Cave wisps by using E Cave snake Torturer First giant rat Second giant rat Third giant rat Fourth giant rat King rat Cave manticore Fog elemental (which did more damage than the manticore did) Rock demon Water elemental First fire sprite Second fire sprite Third fire sprite (they caused more hassle than any other opponent)
And...having gone through the adventure without much difficulty...there's a boss fight at the end that I thought would be unwinnable without max stats, but hidden at the end is a suggestion to sacrifice remaining elemental runestones.
And I still have three, so I can bring Mor Orthor down to Sk9 St9, and I am on full initial stats (+1 for initial Luck), so...
...even though I lose two Luck rolls in attacks, I still manage to win through with plenty of St to spare.
Ergo, final win: Mor Orthor, Elemental Supreme.
Not that great an adventure; mostly a perfunctory dungeon crawl with some sparse writing, basically "here is a thing/door, do you want a look or not?"

Attempted Resurrection of the Dead
Skill 12 Stamina 23 Luck 12
OK, well I'm not getting a stats bonus with those numbers and I failed (not a surprise as this is my first look at RotD) but I'm pretty sure I'm in line for the fights bonus: Thug, Monk, Wight, Decayer, 3 Possessed Goats, Skeleton, Xoroa Warrior, Living Corpse (does this count as 1 battle or 6?), Zombie, Night Stalker, 3 more skeletons.
I was eventually killed by a Decayer (another one?) though I might have got through that if there wasn't another blasted LUCK test. By that stage I have to say that I was greatly envying the dead. I believe I fought 97 rounds of combat in this which may be the most I've ever gone through in any FF playthrough, successful or not, amateur or pro – frankly far too many.
Anyway final inventory: 11 gold pieces, no provisions, scrap of paper (backwards writing), silver knife, The Battle of Tanner Heath, ornamental silver dagger, notebook in odd language, Vannix's note, lantern
Intel: Narrock the Steady's tomb has been defiled, Vannix’s Sticky Fingers is at 6 Gut- fish Lane, if follow tracks on heath 60 to find group travellers, Cowyn Thrawn fell out with Narron the Steady after battle of Tanner's Heath, disturbances of cemetery at South Gate, rotting disease cases directed to Rosie Fletcher at 147 King’s West (Leaving out text of Vannix's note etc for brevity.)

I had a decent run at Lord of Stone. I was killed by Mor Orthor. I was just too low on Stamina when I got to him. I had strictly adhered to the rule about eating only one provision at a time in an empty room, not allowing myself to eat one in an empty corridor. I died with 3 provisions left in my backpack.

A mediocre effort at Lords of Stone lead to defeat at the hands of KING RAT. Sk 8 St 18 Lu 12 Kills: CAVE SNAKE, TORTURER, 4 GIANT RATS Although what I played was pretty simplistic and not very long, I enjoyed this one.

I did better than expected in The Warlock's Way, considering that I only had 5 SKILL, but a botched casting that denied me the opportunity to use a Battle Spell against a couple of Thunder Beasts doomed me.
22½ hour warning for thealmightymudworm and schlendrian.
Week 18 This century - House of Hell Last century - Mudworm Swamp (The Adventures of Goldhawk 3)
In House of Hell, FEAR is to be generated by rolling one die, halving the result (rounding down) and adding 9. The SKILL bonus for wielding the Kris knife is not to be taken as an Attack Strength bonus.

Surprising approximately no one, the hell demon with double my skill completely tore me to shreds. Unless, of course, you allow the kris knife to exceed initial skill. In that case the hell demon with 140% of my skill completely tore me to shreds.

How is the Kris Knife bonus being applied? And are you allowed to guess the password?

House of Hell.
Sk 8 St 18 Lu 11 Fear 10 (wuss)
Loot: Key (used) Meat cleaver
Successful fights: Zombie
But that was it; a bottle of poisoned vin de table finished me off pretty quickly. But I was dead man walking, only had 2 St after the zombie fight (due to not having a weapon).

Lords of Stone was another disaster for me, a Skill of 7 and Stamina of 16 ensuring that I didn't survive a fight against three Dark Elves (though I did kill one of them).
No guide used, but I did refer to the maps I made while playtesting this adventure. Maps plural, because it doesnt seem possible to fit together the passages found after turning left at the first junction and those found after turning right.

Attempted Lords of Stone SKILL 11 STAMINA 23 LUCK 12 (again?!) ...well the long and the short of it is, I won! Quite easily in the end – I had STAMINA restorers coming out of my ears and a good handful of Runestones to make the final battle anticlimactic. Despite spraining my ankle early on, (which is tedious) basically a habit of investigating everything worked well with these stats, allowing for just a tiny bit of nous/common sense. Final inventory: Sword, leather armour, potion of Fortune, translator, rope, Golden Medallion amulet, warhammer, shiny blue gem, Ring of Stamina, Griffon Shield, silver amulet/Charm of Learning, fur coat, snattacat hide boots, Salve of Healing (1 use remaining), Healing Potion, iron bat key, potion of STAMINA (8 points) Notes: 'Beware the well', 'The key is in the wall' Provisions: 2 Runestones remaining before final combat: 1 x Air, 2 x Water, 1 x Earth, 1 x Fire Final stats: SKILL 10/11 STAMINA 22/23 LUCK 12/13 Combats won: Stone Golem, Giant Spider, Boulder Beast, 3 x Dark Elves, Whirlpool, Cave Manticore, Fog Elemental, 1 Fire Elemental, Mor Orthor

I rolled pretty good stats for House of Hell, but I wasn't confident that I would remember how to find all the necessary clues. And I'm pretty sure I missed the first essential clue by asking Shekou the wrong question. Ultimately, I was locked in a cell by a group of cultists.

I figure if I don't pick Khare, I kind of lock myself out of the rest of Sorcery so:
skill: 7 Stamina: 20 Luck: 11 (10+reward for finishing Hills)
items: broadsword, locket, armband of swordmastery, torch, tinderbox, beeswax, gauntlet of weaponry, sand, golden locket, sun jewel, green wig, gold-backed mirror, lucky talisman, a different lucky talisman, large backpack, serpent ring, 24 gold, 4 provisions fights: deathwraith (Libra technically got rid of it for me), 2 harpies knowledge: At ref 244 turn to 111, at ref 110 turn to 222, all 4 lines of the spell, turn to 130 at start of book 3 guide: Champskees
A pretty easy win though getting the 2 (ineffective) hits on the deathwraith so I could call on Libra to save me was harder than I would have liked.
