Since you haven't posted a progressive stats playthrough of any of Joe Devers Books I thought I'd give it a go
I hope to have 1 or more, likely a lot more, most of them failed, playthroughs of Book 1 and hopefully Book 2, but likely only Book 1, of The 4 Freeway Warrior Books done by nighttime tomorrow and posted around noon Tuesday. But because of how much I value your opinion/opinions on this, see below, I am willing to wait a lot longer then I normally would for your thoughts, opinions, advise and suggestions. Please give your thoughts, opinions, advise and suggestions
But since your the top expert, now I think about it its almost guaranteed that your the only expert, at Progressive Stat Playthroughs I want, and value, your thoughts and opinions on the rules I've come up with and a few things and bits of info that I think will be relevant. Here are the rules I've come up with and a few things and bits of info I think will be relevant. What do you think?
The main reason I'm doing The 4 Freeway Warrior Books 1st is because I truly believe that out of Joe Devers 4 Saga's, 4 being Freeway Warriors, World of Lone Wolf, Lone Wolf Books 1 to 20 and Lone Wolf Books 21+, this is the 1 I think I will find the easiest to beat with the Progressive Stats method
I will politely, and if I fail I sincerely apologize, make 1 thing clear, beating The 4 Freeway Warrior Books with the Progressive Stats method won’t be easy by any means, rather it will be easier, likely a lot easier, then beating Joe Devers other 3 Gamebook Saga’s would be using/with the Progressive Stats method
Here’s how The Progressive Stats method works in/with The 4 Freeway Warrior Books
Start with The minimum Combat Skill of 10 and The minimum Endurance of 20
Start with the minimum number of Medikits, I think, but I may be wrong, that that means that I start with 2 Medikits
At the start of Book 1 I only boost each of the 4 abilities by +1
At the start of Books 2 to 4 I either pick 2 abilities at random to boost by +1 or choose 1 to boost by +1
Everytime I die the relevant stat, ability or whatever gets +1
Losing thanks to A Random Number Generation means that the next time I do that particular Random Number Generation I modify the roll by +1 or -1
Getting killed by the same Random Number Generation lets me increase the numbers of times I can modify it
But if I eventually succeed at a do or die Random Number Generation then later in the book die to a different do or die Random Number Generation then the number of modifiers I had to the initial do or die Random Number Generation resets
For example in Book 3 upon reaching death paragraph 249 shortly before I did I was chucked out of the survivors cabin and have seen killed Knott then tried to escape but after choosing A Weapon to fire as a distraction got killed 3 times
This means that by the time I succeed I’d have 3 +1 or -1 modifiers to that roll but when I get to paragraph 181 if I fail the Random Number Generation I go to paragraph 141, get killed and lose the 3 +1 or -1 modifiers I had at paragraph 249 are lost
To make it fair if a keep dying at 1 paragraph eventually die at another paragraph then keep dying at that paragraph I keep the roll at the later paragraph
As a follow up example to the earlier example in Book 3 if I die 3 times at death paragraph 141 then die, possibly several times, at death paragraph 249 because I haven’t yet made it back to paragraph 181, which is the 1 before death paragraph 141 I keep the 2 +1 or +1 modifier/modifiers for/at death paragraph 181
1 example of something I mentioned a lot earlier is that death by losing A Fight that I had little chance of winning nets me/him +1 Combat Skill
Another example of something I mentioned a lot earlier is that death by losing all my characters Endurance nets me/him +1 Endurance
If I lose a fight that I truly believe that I would have won if my Endurance hadn’t been as low as it is/was at the start of the fight then I get to choose whether I get +1 Combat Skill or +1 Endurance
