Presumably a lot of you will have seen this already, even though it's not even coming to Kickstarter for a month yet. "Created by Martin Wallace of Wallace Designs and based on the iconic series of books by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, the game allows up to four players to experience the classic adventures in a completely new way. Despite being a card game, it has the feel of a roleplaying game but without the need for a Gamesmaster. The first campaign will comprise five adventures, based on four beloved books - The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, The Forest of Doom, Deathtrap Dungeon, and Island of the Lizard King - with the promise of more to come." officialfightingfantasy.blogspot.com/2023/05/fighting-fantasy-adventures-coming-to.html

Looking forward to this if it doesn't break the bank. Wonder why they didn't include more of Steve's adventures.

Looking forward to this if it doesn't break the bank. Wonder why they didn't include more of Steve's adventures. I do hope it isn't because of deep-set copyright issues. While Ian wrote some good ones Steve's ones could be brilliant. My guess is it might be because Steve wrote complicated gamebooks ( Creature Of Havoc, Citadel Of Chaos); Citadel Of Chaos has already made it onto Fighting Fantasy Legends App of course. Ian's more traditional style slightly lends itself more to FRPG where Steve seems to have a following in App format.

I'm genuinely intrigued on how you'd play them. Could be fun to do with the kids. Maybe with four of us we'll have a better chance of saving Mungo

Come to think of it, how are 4 people allowed to travel through Deathrap Dungeon together?

Come to think of it, how are 4 people allowed to travel through Deathrap Dungeon together? My own guess is they'd go in at different points in the line\take it in turns like in the gamebook itself (together doesn't necessarily mean as a party ofc). I suspect certain contestants may feature as NPCs, as well. Alternatively it could be re-jigged Dungeon where several travel together, which makes as much sense as anything else.

First real look at it:
Looks good! Combat rule tweak will keep the game fast so I'm okay with that. It seems limited to dungeon crawls (or forest crawls as Forest of Doom would be), but looks fun. Probably won't be too faithful to the original books, but all good.

Looks like a good simple game but I'm not getting the FF theme.

For those who aren't aware, the Fighting Fantasy Adventures Kickstarter campaign is on now. Playthrough videos on YouTube look good and the team who designed the game are quite responsive so any comments you have can be left on their KS page.

Yes indeed. Here's the kickstarter embedded, followed by the link for those the embed doesn't work:

It looks pretty cool. The FF theme seems kind of painted on but that's okay. I think I'll have fun with this regardless of the theming.

Yes I am excited by this as it looks fun to play. Unfortunately it is a few days in already and only about one third funded so could struggle to reach its target which is a shame. It's always good to see new FF based books or games come out and I wouldn't want to see this fail.

As the game is struggling to reach its funding goal, the designers have decided to cancel the Kickstarter campaign but plan to do a relaunch later on Gamefound together with lowered prices and generally taking on board feedback from the community. While it sucks to do a reset, I think this is a good decision and one that was absolutely necessary for success.

Nice to see it's looking more affordable now. Even if it's a very limited game, it'd still be a good collector's item. Let's hope when it goes live, it doesn't have such a ridiculous target goal anymore.
