This is a poll determining your view of Trolltooth Wars. The criteria is whatever is important to you - I would put its literary quality (or absence) very much at the centre, with questions about how well it fits into the FF universe of very little relevance, and its sales none at all, but that's just me. I didn't think terribly highly of Trolltooth Wars - on the positive side, it is evocative, fast-paced and written with some skill, but it's also quite cliche and doesn't seem to distinguish itself with a great plot or unexpected ambition.

I read all three a long, long time ago so this is based on hazy memories.
I'm giving it a rather generous 4/10. I finished all three of the novels which is more than I can say for a few fantasy novels in my youth and the Trolltooth Wars itself is a fun romp with a memorable opening chapter. It can be effectively nostalgic at times when visiting the big villains and locations from the gamebooks. I also still remember the final race against time scene on the Galleykeep so that must have been effective.
It is a shame that Chadda himself, as far as I can recall, is so unlikeable. I guess he is supposed to be a brooding Han Solo in A New Hope style antihero but he just came across as someone you really wouldn't want to spend any time with.
Probably the best of the three, though all I remember of the second one is that it was very dark in comparison. I don't remember the third one at all.

The war between Dire and Marr is the only interesting part. The heroes aren't likable and feels a lot like when they include Humans into the Transformers story. Probably worth a read just for the Marr and Dire parts and the romp through Firetop Mountain isn't too bad either. But don't expect anything specal.

I think the elephant in the room here is whoever voted "0 Definitely shouldn't have been published". I imagine that was something beyond just weak characterisation and slightly simplistic plot. I haven't read Trolltooth Wars for more than thirty years, so there's probably\definitely things about it I don't remember. I do remember it being weak both as a story and on description, with it never fully transcending its gamelike origins. If memory serves though, the illustrations weren't bad. As I've implied it was written at a different time, and perhaps it hasn't stood the test of time particularly well, or perhaps teens have different tastes to adults (the way Michael Bay has made his career).

If you voted 0 the problem is you, not the author, because it has zero respect for the work put in

I voted 8, but I have no problem with someone voting zero. If you think something is utter shite you should be allowed to say so!

I voted 7 as I thouroughly enjoyed it though I actually found that in the end Ï was wishing Chadda would just die and instead I was cheering for Zharradan Marr and Thugruff. I love the battles and the war of the Trolltooth pass. I wouldnt go higher as there are alot of the gamebooks I preferred.
