Coming this September. Lord "Carnuss' off-brand Lidl version" of Deathtrap Dungeon will open for visitors, but when will it be set? (Thank you to kieran for the quote.)
We know it is set at least five years after the opening of the first Deathtrap Dungeon from the synopsis below.
Here are the pertinent parts of the Deathtrap Dungeon timeline from Titannica: 274AC: Deathtrap Dungeon Opens 283AC: Deathtrap Dungeon Defeated at the 10th attempt. (The Events of Gamebook: Deathtrap Dungeon) 284AC: Deathtrap Dungeon II Opens and is Defeated (The Events of Gamebook: Trial of Champions)
Here is the synopsis from Amazon: Jealous of the fame and fortune that Baron Sukumvit's Deathtrap Dungeon has brought him, his brother Lord Carnuss spends five years using an army of slaves to build the ultimate dungeon challenge on Blood Island. Offering a prize of the Golden Orb of Fang, he challenges all-comers to risk their lives to find the Golden Orb and escape with it alive. Filled with deadly creatures, lethal traps, and horrific surprises, danger lurks at every turn.

If I was asked to write this, my logical chain of events would be:
Sukumvit creates dungeon and rises to fame Carnuss, jealous of fame, begins construction of his own dungeon Sukumvit's dungeon is beaten (Deathtrap Dungeon) Rejoicing over Suk's defeat, Carnuss tries to grab the limelight by launching his own dungeon on Blood Island Carnuss' dungeon beaten first year, by me Angered it took so many years for Suk's dungeon to be beaten and Carnuss' defeated first time, Carnuss aims to humiliate Suk's new dungeon, which leads into Trial of Champions

I think it makes more sense to be set during the initial few years of the undefeated 10 years of Deathtrap Dungeon, making the Trial of Champions story carry more weight - he couldn't build a good enough dungeon to rival his brothers, so he set out to humiliate him with his servant beating this much tougher version instead (and it just so happens that this happens when the second version is launched).
Incidentally, the idea the the second dungeon only took one year to beat when it is much harder - and contains sections that are much older - fits with Ians typical disregard for his own timeline, so he probably set this 27 years after the Trail of Champions...

After Ian’s Facebook page has confirmed this will be a sequel to Deathtrap Dungeon and a prequel to Trial of Champions I will lock the poll.
Very well done to the three voters who got it spot on and especially to paperexplorer whose thought process of the logical chain of events seems to have been rather accurate. Impressive.
Here is the text from Ian’s Facebook post, I’m pretty darned excited for it!
Just finished the final edit of The Dungeon on Blood Island. It’s a sequel to Deathtrap Dungeon and a prequel to Trial of Champions. Amazing cover by the maestro himself Iain McCaig, wonderfully atmospheric internal illustrations by Krisztian Balla and a beautiful new map by Leo Hartas. The official launch will be at Fighting Fantasy Fest 5 on 7th September. #Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks #Scholastic UK
