From TUFFF (a year later, August 2012)... wilf said: Is it me, or is The Warlock's Way unwinnable?
... SPOILERS FOLLOW ...
You need four rings to discover the number of pits in Hell. One of the rings is held by King Peleus. Another is held by the Nightmare, and can only be retrieved if you are in possession of the Sacred Conch. But the encounter that gains you the Conch is on a different path from the one with Peleus. Have I missed something here, or is this book broken? -You actually just need 3 rings to win. You do have to get the third ring from Peleus. You can move past the Nightmare with a spell (spoiler: Freeze) so you don't need the Conch. The Warlock' Way is winnable, it's just hard. I felt like the authors really wanted to punish this guy. COTP takes an interesting starting-point and messes up by becoming linear and hard like most other FF books. The flying carpet escape is also pretty tedious.

Is there a solution for this book anywhere?

Is there a solution for this book anywhere? I own these two average-selling books, weird and unlikely permutation that that is. We're FF fans here, but they're really nothing special, tedious even; they've got worse than average FF traits, lots of unfair instant deaths, a narrow, Livingstonian 'true path' (did you pick up these four things? If not, you're dead), tough enemies, poor description. I wouldn't find them fun to play one or two player, and I won't be writing a solution.

Are these 2 books considered rare \ valuable? I'm pretty sure they didn't sell well, just based on the fact that while I see the numbered FF gamebooks, novels and non-fiction quite a bit, I've seen these 2 once, second-hand, and the content didn't impress, either. A quick check on Amazon reveals few sales, with prices of £20 or £155, but personally I wouldn't compare them with say Disney VHS tapes (although I don't support those, either).

I wouldn't quite put them in the rare / valuable category but you are correct to say they didn't sell well in their day.
Box sets were not popular with retailers back in the 80's and I doubt if they even received much promotion.
