I spotted it in a second-hand bookshop today,costing $2.90 SGD. :DAnd if that's not a bargain then I'm a Krell with a blue bottom with purple polka-dots(which in case your wondering,I'm not).
So what did you think of it?Frankly I don't really understand it.I could understand Fighting Fantasy and Riddling Reaver,but something about Marc's (or maybe Pete's) way of presenting the information makes it hard to get.
Well anyway it's a fun read(I never saw it coming that the Prince Rshsdjsfs was in league with the sorcerer Throg,serious!) and Marc or Pete does sprinkle it some humour at times,so I'll try to read it more thoroughly some other time.

I don't own much of the AFF range, but I do have this. It’s a long time since I had a good read through it, but I’m tempted to have another look, due to both paltogue's blog post rejoicing in the internal artwork and a recent playthrough on FYF. Like Justin, I didn’t really see how the ‘make a movie’ analogy is supposed to work. (It’s like a film! Except there are no cameras and not really any acting. So it’s like a script read-through except that we have to partially make up the script and if you make up a script in which I tell you you all die, we have to make a new script from scratch. Also ...dice!) In a way though it is set up a bit like a film. From what I remember the adventures tended to be very linear and force the players’ hands quite a lot, which is perhaps not a big surprise considering Marc Gascoigne’s involvement (he of Cathy and The Caarth fame). I’ve never been a big player of this sort of thing but surely linearity is even less forgivable for multi-player stuff with a DM? I seem to remember having some misgivings about the system too… wasn’t it very dependent on initial SKILL rolls? I think there was something of a giveaway in that to change SKILL with experience points you needed to save them up over at least four adventures because it made such a whopping difference. If someone was really intending to keep a character going they’d be well-advised to make the initial roll with one of the dice vagsancho used to beat CotS by the rules. Still, it does have some interesting ideas and a genuine sense of enthusiasm for the FF world. Well worth the S$2.90 as you say, DSR, (although if you ever come down with posterior purple polka dots, I think I still have some ointment left over somewhere... ).

Dungeoneer is pretty linear,compared to Fighting Fantasy and Riddling Reaver,although it was a pretty good read.
Vagsancho...does it have any meaning,or is it his name?
And by the way,almightymudworm,you were quite close.I actually have green grids on my gluteus maximus.

Basically, a character with Skill 12 is not only naturally better than a Skill 7 character in all the standard ways but also gets more Special Skills and these Special Skill operate at a higher level. If I were using the system I'd be inclined to either give all the PCs a Skill of 8--9, or provide lower-skill characters with more Special Skill points, so they'd be more versatile.

In my AFF group all players start with Skill 7 and receive 1d+6 points for Special Skills, which remain between 8 and 11. Thus, there's no need to boost the monsters' stats presented in Dungeoneer and Out Of The Pit.

Also, I houseruled that STAMINA points spent with spells would only be recovered naturally (or maybe with Potions), but not with magical spells.
