Do you think that's wise sylas to ask that? He might turn you to stone by one look. It is the way of every Gorgon or basilisk. Just sayin.

More than twenty years after the Fighting Fantasy era, about five or ten of us continue with the fighting fantasy bug still biting inside the brain. I wonder, from this little group, will that bug continue to bite until death?

There's a lot more than 5 or 10 that continue to thumb through and enjoy the occasional FF, Vagsancho...

As I walk through the Pagan Plains where I exercise my brains I take a look at my sword and realise it’s very plain Gotta find a blacksmith in Mirewater where metals don’t come free You know, I have only enough gold pieces for cheap expenditures At 4:30 in the morning I’m eating my bread and cheese Watch the dwarves in Stonebridge grow smaller and the humans holler… fool And I’ve been exploring and fighting so long that Even Yaztromo thinks that my mind is gone I’m a man of Allansia, I’m not some simpleton Got a book of spells in my hand and a beard on my chin And if I complete this stupid mission and save the world in time Then tonight we’re gonna party like it’s 1399
I’ve been playing gamebooks most my life Living in a Titan paradise Kissed an orc once or twice Living in a Titan paradise Can’t always find a friend in the dice Living in a Titan paradise I buy leather armour at discount price
Living in a Titan paradise
Went to Port Blacksand last week and got myself killed I just pretended like it never happened went back and killed him instead I really don’t care, in fact, and his dying last words were kinda upsetting “I hope you die in Crypt of the Sorcerer with nightmares and endless bedwetting” Hmm I never punched a woman with an eye patch even if she deserved it
A warrior with grit? Only friends and family deserve it I never wear buttons, only laces, but I got a cool skullcap And Redswift and Stubb will agree, I really look good in studs… fool If you enter Deathtrap Dungeon, you’ll be bored to tears, no fears You won’t know where you’re going because Sukumvit hasn’t paid his electricity bills in 300 years You are old fashioned, with just 10 provisions and a lantern And a mane just like Barbarian Throm’s fabulous curls
There are no cell phones, credit cards or fine sceneries Not a single happy-go-lucky dream! Like dumb Bogs and hideous Frog people
It’s as primitive as can be
I’ve been playing gamebooks most my life Living in a Titan paradise Kissed an orc once or twice Living in a Titan paradise Can’t always find a friend in the dice Living in a Titan paradise I buy leather armour at discount price
Living in a Titan paradise
Robbin’ caravans and highwaymen, stitchin’ up your britches Slept in a barn on Monday, soon I’ll rest in another! You think your stamina will win over mine? Think you’re tough as twine? Well, I just rolled 12 in Skill when signing up and laugh at your Skill of 9! I’m the clashing guy the little fairies wanna be like I’m on my feet every night scoring points for my Adventure Sheet So don’t you challenge me and don’t you trick me Or else, buddy, I will get medieval on your heinie!

There are different types of evil - the evil that I felt when I was face to face with Xakhaaz, the evil that I felt when I was face to face with Razaak, and the evil that I felt when I was face to face with the Hell Demon. They were all different. Desire for power, desire for death, desire for suffering. There are different types of Evil.

You're not weird.
Christmas holidays are coming. I'll be drunk for four days including new year. Absinthe, drambuie, coke and rum, port, 1 litre of zinfandel, grand marnier, meth, port, 70 percentage candycane swirl, carolans, jello shots, battery acid, tequila, tia marie, two huge boxes of fags and vodka shots. Who needs fighting fantasy books to cure loneliness when you got your mates. In fact who needs fighting fantasy at all these days. I'm moving on.

Still, here to nothing the world will be in 2200 with its new and old million inhabitants, and we, with fighting fantasy books, tequila, Carolans, loneliness, or mates, "we" will be for sure for more than one hundred and fifty years with our lifeless bodies rotting beneath the earth.

I've already started on the Newcastle Brown.

What in...how the...why does everyone know how to enter such complicated smileys? More to the point, how many gold pieces do I have to spend or what evil wizard's vault do I have to plunder to get one of those never ending bottles of Newkie?

My God. How I wish to play again and feel again a Fighting Fantasy book, how i wish to feel it with all my being. But one good book. Not a bad one. Not one Appointment with FEAR, but a Howl of the Werewolf, a City of Thieves, a Deathtrap Dungeon, a Talisman of Death a Crypt of the Sorcerer. How I desire to feel it again with all the purity of my being!

Well, why don't you just play one of those books you mention? After all, two dice, a pencil and an eraser are all you need

I see on the official website ( www.fightingfantasy.com) that Jamie Fry is stepping down as Warlock (he's held the post since late 2011). Thanks to Jamie for everything he's done for FF in that time.

Well, the website stated that it would announce his successor very soon, so we'll just have to wait and see.

If you haven't already seen, 4 new Fighting Fantasy colouring books have been announced by Snow Books, publisher of You are the Hero. ( www.fightingfantasy.com) It would be interesting if they could take on the actual FF range.

Is there much ado on the site anyway? (Sorry I've been quiet on the FF front of late; I'm still here and would like to get back to FFing a bit more!)
