If you loved Appointment with F.E.A.R, then Deadline to Destruction will…only disappoint. It is great that they used many of the locations and characters from its predecessor, but it is simply a poorly built clone. Your nemesis, the Dynamo, is perhaps the lamest evil villain you could encounter. He resides in a small bedsitter apartment, seems to have no followers…this is the main bad guy?? The mechanics are the same i.e. you need to find clues which are hidden in different places according to your superpower, unfortunately it doesn’t really matter, because ultimately, you will need a high Skill score to win. And as Super Strength gives you an automatic Skill of 13, it’s a no-brainer. - Take any two clues. - Continue walking to work. - Sneak out to do some shopping. - Go to Cottonworth’s. - Change into the Silver Crusader and capture the thief. - Fight Sk 8 St 11 Jaws. - Go to McWhimpy’s Burger Bar. - You have Super Strength. - Fight Sk 10 St 16 Mr Obesity (seriously??). - Add Clue: Dynamo has a small room on 43rd Street. - Add 4 Hero Points. - Restore 6 Stamina. - Continue towards the plant. - You have Super Strength. - Add 2 Hero Points (2 Damage). - Leave the place. - Go home for a rest. - Restore 6 Stamina. - Take Energy Drainer. - You have Super Strength. - Test Skill. Automatic Success. - Add 2 Hero Points. - You were drugged. - -2 Skill until you rest at home. - You have Super Strength. - Test Skill. Fail = Death. - Cut the blue wire. - Restore 6 Stamina & the 2 Skill from earlier. - Go to the rubber factory. - Enter the factory to tackle Eddie. - Advance down the right lane. - You have Super Strength. - Puzzle: 99-80=19, 80-62=18 etc. 29-15=14. Answer is 14. - Add Clue: Dynamo’s Room Number is 14. - Add 2 Hero Points. - Go in & see him. - Restore 6 Stamina. - Go out and get him. - 43+14=57. Turn to Para 57. - Wait a while. - You have. - You have an Energy Drainer. - Note: After three rounds, turn to Para 60. - 4 Damage. - Fight Sk 12 St 20 Dynamo. o If hit by enemy: 4 Damage. - After three rounds: Fight Sk 10 St 16 Dynamo. - Add 10 Hero Points. - You quickly tie up the Dynamo and call the police. He won’t cause any more trouble – the city has been saved again!

For me, Appointment with FEAR is one of the worst Fighting Fantasy books ever made. Please elaborate. I see Fighting Fantasy gamebooks as Reality and not as fiction, in a higher degree than this "our" own reality. That is because some 20 or more magical FF books. For me, books as Appointment with FEAR are a disgrace to this feeling of Reality. Childish, impersonal and banal.

That sort of makes sense. The whole supervillain thing is a bit stupid. If you were going to rob the biggest bank in the world or steal a nuclear bomb, then dressing up in red and yellow spandex and a mask might just give the whole thing away.

I always imagined The Crimson Dynamo as having followers that are never faced or even mentioned and that he choose his hideout based on the idea that the good guys would never think to look their

Mine is Energy Bolt due to it being the only power I could ever beat Appointment With FEAR with, but even that took 1 year, 4 months, 3 weeks and 1 day and 71 goes

The tangential discussion on JMISBEST's planned sequel and advice for writing gamebooks has been spun off into its own thread here.

Wow, can't believe that after all these years this still generates some conversation! Cut me some slack guys, I was 10 when I wrote it and only chose the superhero genre as I thought it would get noticed as everyone else was writing the traditional fantasy style adventures - it worked ! 😜

Can someone do me A Guide that will be very hard, as I both like a challenge and nearly always have above average luck with Dice Rolls, for A Skill of 6+6 or 12, Stamina 12+2+6 or 20 and Luck 6+3 or 9 Character with ETS. Please and thank you

Please and thank you I am not at all sure about this. Use Champskees solution and improvise. I am 'passionate' myself but even at my most autistic even my most 'rational' solutions are there to be interpreted.
