I can't lose against that AS, but I could tie on a double 1...
7 + 10 = 17

Redric reels back in shock, then hacks at the tentacle. (Roll of 7 + Skill 9 = AS 16.)

Roll 4 + Skill 8 –> Attack Strength 12
"Shiver me timbers! [inaudible muttered foul curse]!! The grasping salt suckers usual keep to the depths!"
(@ Talbion) "Not falling in love with this one then? Yer could use a barrel hoop as a wedding ring, no?"

== Round One == The combat ends as quickly as it began. The Giant Octopus' attempt to ambush the adventurers in such shallow water was never going to be easy, and Talbion, Throma, Prex and Redric quickly lopped, stabbed and sliced away the tentacles attacking them. Murg seemed to be uncharacteristically caught off guard, losing 2 Stamina points from a hard slap on his back from a slimy tentacle. Jack also struggled to free himself from the vice-like grip of the octopus' tentacle, losing 2 Stamina. Civil's club was tied up by a large tentacle too, inflicting no damage. After taking a whopping 8 stamina damage in the first round, the remaining tentacles relax and loosen, slipping back into the deeper recesses of the river, leaving a trail of dark blood behind them. The Giant Octopus is defeated. == Combat Ends == * Party members may decide to rest here, just let me know if you eat provisions* After reaching the north bank, the adventurers wander through the passageway. The passageway continues ahead for as far as you can see.

As he walks onward, Talbion checks the left wall for any secret passages.
Edit: Sorry forgot to roll (7)

The three of you examine the passageway very carefully, but it seems like nothing is out of the ordinary.

<I disagree - after the last couple of rooms, no traps and dangers is far from being "nothing out of the ordinary" >

Murg seems a bit disorientated in general. "I'm sorry comrades, I don't know what came over me. Tentacles, brrrr....."
Murg will eat his last provision.

Once everyone's finished eating, move to press on up the passageway (with axe ready for anything that comes round the corner).
It looks like it might be dark in the enclosed passageway. (Is it? Or is there light ahead?) If so, Jack will have his lantern in his other hand.
If it's only possible to proceed one at a time, Jack is happy to lead the way, but certainly not insistent about it if someone else want to jump in.

You will need a light source to see up this passage, good thinking. I'll assume the rest of the party follows you, width allows for two abreast atm. The party walks down the passageway. You have walked about 300 feet when the path starts to curve to the left. The passage continues to extend as far as your torch light can reach.

I think you can safely assume, that the party follows the curve on along the passageway. At least Civilservicus closes rank with Jack and goes on.

Following the passageway further, the party walks another 300 feet along the path. The walls in this section of the passage are slimy and you can hear drips ahead.

*Search the tunnel for pitfalls, hidden side-passages etc* (4) [Do people have other ideas than carrying on? Why is no one posting in this thread?] You check every 30 feet or so for traps and hidden passageways, but find nothing too suspect. The party travels another 300 or so feet along the passageway. It is now beginning to curve along to the right.

"Yeah, I didn't become an adventurer for THAT! I hate giving up though. What say we continue along this passage for about a thousand steps, and if that gets us nowhere, we turn around and leave this place?"

"This tunnel appears to have been manufactured, and I can't think of any good reason for excavating for around a fifth of a mile. Except maybe a trap. I say turn back now - there could be a trigger for something super-lethal at the 1000-foot mark. Or maybe just before that."
