*Takes position behind Murg, waves to Prex to take the place next to the alcove opposite Jack*
"If the task is killing from an ambush, I'd say we should use the natural expertise of a Blacksander!", he says, grinning.

Yes, Talbion is standing right behind Murg.

I nod and get into position, eyes gleaming with anticipation. "It's been a long time."

"I, too, am a Blacksander! But I suppose the Shadow Runner has more expertise in the art of the ambush." Redric stands with Civilservicus with his sword drawn.

I'll keep a look out for anything trying to sneak up on us while the rest of the party's attention is focused on the web.

With the party now prepared, Murg lights up the spider's web with his torch. Expecting the worst, the party lie in wait, ready to ambush whatever comes out of the alcove. After several minutes of waiting, the final strand of webbing burns rather anticlimactically. The alcove appears to be empty. Rummaging through the debris on the floor, Murg picks up the object that was glimmering in the light cast by his torch. Surely this treasure is what the web was protecting?
A piece of bone, snapped in half.

Keeping an eye out for anything that could trigger a trap (5), move towards the closest passageway that leads to a door.

Keeping an eye out for anything that could trigger a trap (5), move towards the closest passageway that leads to a door. The closest passageway is the one on the right. You creep forward carefully and calmly, until the passage ends in yet another door. It has a large brass ring for a handle, and on the door's centre is the sculpted head of some kind of monster, cast in bronze.

(That's weird: I'd missed that Champskees had posted for two days(!!) until I posted, at which point most of what I was saying seemed out of date.)
Jack checks round the door (including that brass beast) for traps and catches. (6)
"Eyeball that bone double, Murg? Any runes carved in? Bite marks? Secretly a snake?
"Any of you landlubbers laid eyes on a beast like this afore now?"

Jack inspects the door with Throma and Civilservicus. The details on the door do not seem to carry any traps/catches, and he notes that the door does not appear to be locked.
The rest of the group seem to have decided to stay around the alcove, Murg's face casting a grim scowl in the torchlight as he tosses the useless bone away. It seems that whomever or whatever occupied this area of the cavern is long gone.
However, the cavern is not empty as it appears. While the adventurers were occupied with the giant spider's web, the cavern's inhabitant has been watching them, stalking along the roughly-hewn cavern walls in perfect silence. It decides that now is the time to strike, springing out towards its target, a slim figure that is standing just outside the range of Murg's torchlight. A cry comes from Prex, blood dripping from a slash in his side. Prex loses 2 stamina!
The rest of the party move in to face this new danger, and the identity of their attacker is revealed. It is a great hulking brute, half-human, half bear, and bigger than both. It is a NANDI BEAR, a creature that is well known to be particularly fond of eating humans, especially their brains. You must fight it to the death.
NANDI BEAR Skill 9 Stamina 11 Attacks 2
== Round One == Nandi Bear attacks Prex and Redric. Attack Strength 18.

Jack will try flinging his axe if that's possible (Test of SKILL?), then will charge in with cutlass immediately. (8) and (4) if time for both.

== Round One ==
The Nandi Bear goes in for another swipe with its claws, but before it does, Throma's throwing knife thuds deep into the beast's left thigh. The Nandi Bear takes 2 damage. Its claws smack Prex across the room, the rogue offering no resistance to the beast, with Prex taking 2 damage. Redric is more alert, but is no match for his towering opponent, taking a nasty blow to the head, and taking 2 stamina damage. The rest of the group try to strike their opponent, but the Nandi Bear has lived here its entire life and knows the terrain too well. Jack comes in last, hurling the beautifully made axe in the Nandi Bear's direction. Expecting it to be lodged deep in the beast's neck, Jack is mortified when it not only misses the Bear, but almost seems to swerve towards Redric's back, missing him by mere inches! His trusty cutlass fares little better, cutting a few stray hairs off the great bear's right shoulder.
Nandi Bear Sk 9 St 9 Attacks 2
== Round Two ==
Nandi Bear attacks Redric and Talbion. Attack Strength 21 (ROARRRRR!!!!).
*note: give me Throma's attacks for both round one and this round. Deadshadowrunner gone asleep? 24 hrs max per round from now on, miss the deadline and you're exposing your character to some pain & will miss that combat round!*
