With a cry of rage, Redric drives his sword at the beast. (Roll of 7 + Skill 9 = AS 16.)

== Round Three ==
After years of easy kills, it appears the Nandi Bear has underestimated its dinner. Before it can resume its attack, Talbion thrusts his spear upwards, aiming straight for its heart. The bear manages to twist at the last moment, but the spear still pierces its massive ribcage and goes straight through one of its lungs. Almost impaled by the attack, the Nandi Bear is helpless as the rest of the party lay into it with savage ferocity. Although mortally wounded, the Nandi Bear is still able to make one last swipe at Civilservicus, inflicting 2 stamina damage, before Murg beheads the monster with a devastating downwards slice.

Retrieve the dagger. "We found a door, by the way." ...so anyone want to open the door? There are two other passageways that lead to a door also; one on the left, one in the middle. The one on the right is the one Jack and Throma have already inspected.

Civil heads for the middle door to have a look at it.

*Retrieves axe, but puts it away for now, not quite trusting it anymore.*
"I'm ready to test this door. We must either shove or knock on it and who knows who we'd be giving a chance to prime their cannons with a warning? I need a man – or, uh, wench – to stand along and watch that knocker though. It smells of enchantment to I."
*Thinks*
"The 'Spider-King'... did ye all mind the spidery skull back afore we met Thrushbeard on reading those words?"

"Let's start by examining the other doors first!" Civil heads for the middle door to have a look at it. The centre door is covered in ornate trim and appears locked. The left-most door is rather odd; it does not appear to have a lock nor a handle. Pressing gently against it indicates that is definitely locked though!

I'll keep an eye on that door-knocker, dagger at the ready.

You open the door and... Everything is pitch-black. Even a lantern will not light the area, so you have no way of telling whether this is a large or small room - or indeed whether it is a room at all! From deep in the blackness you can see two deep red points of light and a low growling confirms your suspicions. Something is watching you.

Throw the dagger between the eyes (2). Although it is difficult to aim for something you cannot see (-2 penalty to roll), a loud yelp from the room indicates that Throma has managed to injure whatever is lying in wait. You hear a loud growl and moments later a dark shape leaps out from the room. It is black as coal and larger than a wolf. It is a HELLHOUND, and you must fight it! Skill 7 Stamina 4 Attacks 2 Hellhound. Note that the Hellound's second attack is a breath attack which can target the same opponent as its normal attack. It has a 2 in 6 chance of doing 1 stamina point in damage each round. == Round One == Hellhound attacks Throma. Attack Strength 14. Hellhound focuses breath on Throma. Rolled 4 (miss).

== Round One ==
The Hellhound is quickly cornered as soon as it appears out of the darkened room and is summarily dispatched by the hardened adventurers. One final, small flame comes out of its mouth before the Hellhound fall to the ground, lifeless.
== Combat Ends ==
The door open and the hound disposed of, all that the adventurers can see beyond the door is unending blackness. The room is silent.

Retrieve the knife. If it's not sticking out of the Hellhound's corpse, and I need to search for it, I roll 6 + 4 = 10.

Assuming there are loose bits of rock available, Jack will chuck half a dozen in in different directions to see whether any of them hit walls (or more hidden beasts) or plummet down. (He'll try to do this before Throma enters if possible.)

(He'll try to do this before Throma enters if possible.) You throw the rocks into the darkness. You hear them clang off walls and bounce along the floor, perhaps indicating stone/rocky walls and floor? There are no other sounds emanating from the room/area.

Retrieve the knife. If it's not sticking out of the Hellhound's corpse, and I need to search for it, I roll 6 + 4 = 10. The knife is not on the Hellhound's corpse, nor is it near the body. In order to find it, you will need to search for it in the dark room, which will require a successful Test your Luck roll. If successful, you retrieve your throwing knife (I can't remember what your current luck score is). You may try as many times as you like, or others may attempt to find it, remember you lose 1 luck point per test luck roll though. I will count the 10 roll as your first attempt. Is anybody else going for a wander into the dark?
