Just as the title says, really. Being more of a scifi than fantasy fan, I'd be interested in what are the best gamebooks in this genre?

Heart of Ice definitely. A contender for best gamebook ever, let alone best sci-fi gamebook.
The Falcon series seems solid in my very limited experience. Jamie Thomson's Eternal Champions books are very good.
Appointment with FEAR, Rebel Planet and Rings of Kether would be the best examples in FF imo.

Kieran's covered most of the noteworthy titles, though I might substitute Robot Commando for The Rings of Kether. A fair bit of the Combat Command series, which is set in the worlds of various SF authors, is pretty poor, but the third book, The Omega Rebellion, was very enjoyable. Never heard of the Star Colony books that inspired it, but the gamebook does a reasonable job of explaining the set-up. My playthrough says some more about one plot strand, but the book gave the impression that I could have wound up doing something else entirely if I'd made different decisions.

Joe Dever's Freeway Warrior series is also worth a mention if you like your future post-apocalyptic. Pity they're so unforgiving.

Alright, I think I saw Heart of Ice somewhere online, will check it out. Robot Commando and Rings of Kether I own and do like.
greenspine, while Laumer Keith's "serious" SciFi really isn't very impressive, his satirical diplomat Retief series is quite funny and enjoyable, so don't let Star Colony detain you from giving him a chance.
post apocalypse is a sub-genre I don't really care for, but anyway, thanks for all the suggestions.

Heart of Ice is the best sci-fi gamebook, and also one of the best gamebooks ever. The Last Battledroid is also very good.

Talk of satire reminds me of the Plotbusters gamebook The Cosmic Toaster, which involves an epic quest for a long-lost artefact that has the power to transform bread into toast.

Heart of Ice could also be considered somewhat post-apocalyptic/dystopian, just not in that Mad Max stereotype way.

Read somewhere that in Heart of Ice we must choose from a lot of characters. I hate that.

Read somewhere that in Heart of Ice we must choose from a lot of characters. I hate that. Kinda. You can create a character yourself by selecting a certain combination of four skills out of a choice of eight or can choose between some pre-made characters with very vague backstories.

Read somewhere that in Heart of Ice we must choose from a lot of characters. I hate that. You don't have to. There are many pre-generated characters but you can create your own too. Don't worry about choosing the wrong Skills either; you can complete the book without any of them.

CYOA does a lot of good SF. Out of FF Rings Of Kether, Freeway Fighter, Robot Commando, and Rebel Planet (which I feel is good but overrated). Yes, Heart Of Ice. Endless Quests has lots of rubbish SF (like FF) but also some good ones, my favourite is Light On Quests Mountain. Falcon (Time Travel) more often has adventures in the past, I personally don't go for it, but it's interesting.
