Even with stats like that, your chances of winning Crypt of the Sorcerer, Chasms of Malice or Spellbreaker are negligible.
And you'd have no chance at Black Vein Prophecy.

With those stats, you still would have chances less than 10% with the following books even if you took the optimal route: - Trial of Champions - Crypt of the Sorcerer - Sky Lord - Black Vein Prophecy (completely impossible with those stats) - Spellbreaker - Magehunter - Blood of the Zombies (only has one stat: Stamina and you have to cheat to give yourself over 100 points to have even better than 10% chance of success)
Other books have additional stats which would also need to be high for a decent shot (eg Freeway Fighter, Seas of Blood)
There are books like Chasms of Malice or Star Strider where you would have a good chance if you took the optimal route but any straying off that route at all would cause your chances to plummet.

I've got a what if question about my AFF RPG. Can you give advise?
How would The People of Titan likely treat The Zagor of A Alternate Reality in which he was 1 of The Star Wizard of Yore's pupils, helped save the world several times, twice helped destroy Zinbar Bone, he greatest wizard of this age and later a resident of Blacksand and that realities Nicomedeus was 1 of The Deamonic Three, twice The Tyrant of Firetop Mountain, expert in summoning Deamons and Undead, plotted to conquer Titan at least twice and later merged with The Bone Deamon of and tried to conquer Armarila and both have the basic garrison of Firetop Mountain cos that realities Nicomedeus was The Tyrant of Firetop Mountain and that realities Zagor later forced the former garrison of Firetop Mountain to serve good?

I've spend most of last month writing rules for taking the plots and stories of The Lone Wolf Gamebooks but using The Settings and Rules of Fighting Fantasy and have generated a character to use in Books 21 to 30. Here he is. What do you think?
His Name is Firestorm
His stats are as follows
His initial stats are A Skill of 10+1D6 or 14, A Stamina of 20+1D3+3D6 or 35 and A Luck of 2D6+2 or 10
His current stats with no modifiers are A Skill of 14, A Stamina of 35 and A Luck of 10
His current stats with all modifiers are A Skill of 19 or 20 VS Wizards, Spellcasters, foes that attack with magic weapon, were created by magic, were summoned by magic or are magical by nature, A Stamina of 35 and A Luck of 10 Powers wise he has the following
Kai -all 10 of them
Magnakai -all 10 of them Grand-Master
Kai alchemy, Kai Surge, Grand Weaponmastery with Swords, Herbmastery and Grand Huntmastery
Belongings
Weapons
He has 1 Bow. Standard rules Backpack Items
2 Meals. Both restore 1D3+3 Stamina and there are times when I must eat 1 or lose 5 Stamina
2 bottles of potion of Lamuspur. They both hold 1 dose that when drank restores 1D3+3 Stamina
Special Items
1 Quiver -holds 6 arrows, rules given when needed
The Kai Weapon Valiance. Gives the user +1 Skill or +2 Skill VS Wizards, Spellcasters, foes that attack with magic weapon, were created by magic, were summoned by magic or are magical by nature Gold Coins
His initial Gold Coins were 20+3D6 or 35
His Current Gold Coins are 35

Who else thinks it very weird that in Starship Traveller if you roll very low for The Captains Skill Stat but very high for The Skill Stat or Stats of 1 or more The Engineering, Medical and Science Officers that A Officer who only has basic Combat Training can be a better Fighter then The Captain who is likely very highly trained in Combat and in theory is at least as good as A Average Security Officer

Not really. Being a good Captain is being a good leader who performs best at making his crew excel and making the right decisions. He may be resourceful, a people person, or simply have good intuition. I suppose it may be a little odd, being as it is a Fighting fantasy book after all, but the book is designed so that a high combat Skill is not needed to win.

It's weirder that you could wind up with security officers who are worse fighters than the boffins. the book is designed so that a high combat Skill is not needed to win. The book is designed so that a combat Skill is not needed to win full stop.

I find it much weirder, that if you roll low for skill, the hero of Armies of Death could be someone who seemingly bested the Trial of Champions at a skill of 7. In contrast to that, ST doesn't strike me as odd at all, seeing as you can get into high positions by means other than personal skill.

Does anyone think it strange that in Starship Traveller not only can A Security Guard potentially have 5 points of Skill more then The Security Officer but theirs also the questionable fact that despite A Security Guards replacement having 2 points of Skill less then The Security Guard that he or she is replacing that The Replacement Security Guard still has the potential to have 3 points of Skill more then The Security Officer?. What do you think?

They probably all get their jobs through nepotism. Or maybe they are Orion women who seduced the admiral.

I think it makes naff all difference on account of you not having to roll any dice after character creation.

As I've decided to see how many Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks I can beat without using guides off of The Net do you think that it would technically be breaking the rules if I use guides that I have created entirely by myself for me to use if I forget how to beat A Book?

No, it's recommended in the rules that you take notes and make a map to make subsequent attempts easier. Having said that, you might have more fun if you try them without guides - at least for the first two or three tries.

I've started a new Fighting Fantasy RPG that is solo, has no GM and relies entirely on Player honesty and have a question. Can you help?
If I do either Spellbreaker or Bloodbones after any adventure that I get A Magic Weapon in then when I do either Spellbreaker or Bloodbones can I use The Magic Weapon from The Earlier Adventure or due to the actual powers, abilities and strengths of the main Deamonic Adversary in both Spellbreaker and Bloodbones do I have to use The Weapon that in order to have a chance of beating Spellbreaker and Bloodbones you must have?

That is not possible. It is possible because Spellbreaker has The Sword Deliverer and Bloodbones has The Bone-Sword Nightdeath, both of which have powers that only they have and I want to that if I do 1 or both of Spellbreaker and Bloodbones can I win with any Magic Weapon or can I only win Spellbreaker if I have The Sword Deliverer and can only win Bloodbones if I have The Bone-Sword Nightdeath

What's the difference between a "Fighting Fantasy RPG that is solo, has no GM and relies entirely on Player honesty" and a Fighting Fantasy book?

What's the difference between a "Fighting Fantasy RPG that is solo, has no GM and relies entirely on Player honesty" and a Fighting Fantasy book? The 4 main differences in The 1 I made are it being A Campaign, using rules for doing stuff before adventures, using rules for once the adventures over backtracking and doing stuff you missed and rules that allow a chance to meet and potentially recruit as permanent allies people that in the main books normally only join you for a short time and in some cases die in The Solo Fighting Fantasy books but don't have to in The Campaign

I'm not sure if there's any advice we can give you. You clearly know how your adventures are meant to play out, so you will do everything you can to bend any rules in your favour. Razaak can only be killed by his own sword, BOOM! you happen to find it when you dig into your Pouch of Unlimited Contents. Vymorna is under siege, BOOM! you and your massive army discover a gateway that leads you right to the enemy's vulnerable flank. Any event can be solved with any solution you deem appropriate. And that's perfectly fine because these scenarios play out exactly the way you want them to play out for your enjoyment. I'm just saying I don't see how others can help if you're playing Fighting Fantasy campaigns with no fixed set of rules. You are your own Dungeon Master after all.

A few years back I created a character for The Fan Made Hills of Pheros, its a book were you assign 33 points between 4 stats, but no more then 12 points per stat and at least points per stat, choose 2 two Skills, A Weapon, A bit of armour, with the right skills can get A Bow or A Throwing Knive or both. Here is his background and the stats and skills I choose to give him. What do you think of him? His Class is Warrior-Wizard
Roughly 23 to 25 years ago(so when he age was roughly very early 30’s and age wise he is now at the high end of mid-50’s), he was both 1 of the worlds greatest living Warriors and 1 of its greatest living Wizards But in his later life his number of none-wizard enemies meant that he decided that it would be a good idea to become more of A Warrior then A Wizard and he did that in order to increase his chances of beating or at least surviving a attack by 1 of his many none-wizard enemies
I also imagined him as being in very late middle-age who had taken to A Adventuring life roughly 20 years later then normal to fund his retirement and have a nest egg for his kids. As well as which it makes it hard or at least harder for his enemies and any hired-help and/or killers for hire that they recruit to find me
Due to his age though his Combat and Aura have dropped from almost the highest any human can have to only being well above average, his Health has dropped from well above average to only average and his agility has dropped from slightly above average to only average
As he knew that it could and likely would help him find food that at some point in his he had paid to be trained in Hunting and that as he knew that knowing what certain herbs could be used for that at some point in his life he had paid to be trained in Herb Lore
That’s why his starting stats are Combat 10, Aura 9, Health 7 and Agility 7, he has The Herb Lore and Hunting Skills, he is armed with 1 +1 Damage Sword and 1 +2 Protection Leather Jerkin, he has A 2D6+11 Attack Roll and he has A 2D6+12 Defense Roll

I have a question regarding whether or not something would be classed as cheating. Can you give advise?
If you are using a guide whilst playing a gamebook, at 1 point in the playthrough you are at a paragraph with 2 options and the guide specifically states that 1 of those choices leads to instant death would it be classed as cheating if you only turn to the instant death paragraph to see how you die, then you turn to the previous paragraph and keep playing?

Some would say that using a guide is cheating.
Why not just make a note of the number for the instant death paragraph, play through to the end, and then peek at the death once you've finished?

Many years ago their were 19 Fighting Fantasy Books that I had memorised a way of winning without using guides and I decided that in case I ever forgot how to beat them I'd write my own guides for them, but that was more then 20 years ago, I can only remember how to beat 4 of those original 19 and I want to know if you think that it would be cheating to use the guides that I made to use if I ever forgot how to beat them?

This year my brother is going to get our cousin Assassins of Allansia and Port of Peril and will get him 1 on his 23rd birthday, which is The 9/10/2,020 and the other for Christmas and wants advise on which to get our cousin first but he doesn't trust my opinion and that is because he knows that because of how much I liked it I'm very heavily biased towards Port of Peril and due to how much I disliked it I'm very heavily biased against Assassins of Allansia. So tell me which should my brother get our cousin first and why?

Earlier today I find notes I'd made back in Very Late August 91 that were about my first ever playthrough of 1 of only 2 Fighting Fantasy Books I beat with my 1st character, not 1st attempt, without cheating, using a guide or asking a friend for help or advise. It was Forest of Doom and it was with my 1st character but it took me 3 treks through the forest/playthroughs and the prices listed in my notes are what I estimated, at the time, they were worth. Do you want me to give info on it?
