Well as the book I've been voting for since Round 1 finally drops out (albeit dragging one of my favourite books down with it), I'll need to actually apply some thought this time.
I'm going to go for Sword of the Samurai. There are other books that are more flawed, but Sword, while solid, just doesn't really wow me in any way. The coolest part is the Tourney of the Planes but even that isn't terribly well designed - the choice of which ally to use is pretty arbitrary.

This is getting really tricky now. I like all of these. I'm going to go for demons of the deep just because I sort of floated through it (pun possibly intended)

Getting pretty tough now. Between Samurai and Temple, I went with Temple. The Messenger of Death is the best feature but the Magic system is a bit lame once you've worked out what spells to go for, and the other encounters are a bit meh, especially the antagonist Malbordus. Temple could also do with a makeover for the art. Samurai has a fairly easy route to brisk through and a hard as nails route which also has really good encounters. The creatures in Samurai are just a bit more interesting and different. The Skills are fun too.

It's between Temple and Demons for me. I've never liked Demons as much as others seemed to have. But I'll go with Temple, it's not as good of a read as other Livingstone books and doesn't really excite me much.

Temple is where Ian started neglecting paths other than the 'one true' one. It's not as bad as he would get (hello, Crypt), but this is where the rot began to set in.

Compare the second junction in the Crystal Caves with the second junction in Vatos.
Caverns Correct path: Fight Neanderthal -> investigate loot in the kitchen -> paths converge Wrong path: Chased into pit trap by Goblins -> investigate weapons and frozen Orc -> encounter Minstrel -> paths converge
Temple Correct path: Overcome a Lizard Man - barter with a Gnome - fight Rat Men - encounter a trap -> paths converge Wrong path: Someone throws a bottle at you -> paths converge

Don't remember it being that bad but it does seem like the effort was lacking.

To give Temple its due, the false trail between leaving Yaztromo and encountering the nomad in the desert is decent enough. But the bit described in my previous post seems to be the point at which Ian realised he just couldn't be bothered to come up with interesting incidents on the wrong paths any longer.

It's a toss up between Rebel Planet and Sword of the Samurai - both have some great sections but poor endings. There are more subpar elements to Rebel Planet overall though, and Samurai has a better atmosphere.

Last round, seas of blood and appointment with fear were both eliminated. Sorry wilf. As I voted for neither, I could have changed my mind, voted for Seas and saved Appointment, so no apology necessary!

In terms of introducing new ideas to the range, all these books offer something, but one offers less than the others. That's deciding it for me.
