Here we are at the top 16. Two eliminations each round (unless there are more with equal votes) until we get to the top 10, then it will one knocked out as we count down the top 10.

Voted Sword and Sorcery! 3 (no that's not a separate gamebook). Nothing wrong with them but don't feel in the same league as the others.

Well after doing my best to get rid of Night Dragon in the 50s, I feel obligated to vote for it again here.
Between Serpents and Slaves for my other vote. Slaves has a bit more substance to it but Serpents is more fun and I have a lot of fond memories of playing it as a child.
Edit: on second thoughts I think I'll vote the overlong Night of the Necromancer over either
Yet another edit: Crown of Kings not making it through is definitely the biggest surprise for me out of this whole exercise

Before you ask, vagsancho, Crypt is not going to go back on the list at any stage.

Both of the 'night' books for me

IotU because it is so unmemorable.
I'm also pitching Beneath Nightmare Castle. Nothing wrong with it, other than it is far too Cthulhu with its universe, you wonder why anyone would be living there. Even the Big Boss name is OTT. Sometimes less is more.

It's between the pair of Nights and the two Sorcery titles

From this list, Nightmares Castle is possibly in my top 3, but i must say Crypt of the Sorcerer is even better. Two of the three best villains of all FF books.

I'm voting for siege of sardath. When I got the book, it was the end of A levels and beginning of university for me, and I couldn't be bothered with it. There are a few around that era - crimson tide springs to mind - that were just a bit too hard and/or clever. I wanted simple escapism at this point, not a rock hard puzzle! I don't think I got back into ff until a while later once I'd settled down at university.
So siege of sardath for me, I might have been put off by that early adulthood trauma, but I could never get into it after that. Maybe I'll see a therapist and realise how good it is one day.

I might lock this poll early (in 24 hours from now) as the votes aren't changing at the moment. I think we've got three clear nominations.

It's possible that one of the ones currently tied in second place will suddenly overtake the other, and if anyone's doing tactical voting, they may be leaving it until close to the deadline, so I wouldn't rush to lock it.

Legend of the shadow warriors is a good book. But i prefer Nighmares Castle a lot more.

Well.. I like a little bit the night dragon.. I do not like at all Bythos... But compare them with the spectacular Xakhaaz? No way!
