I was wondering: Should the sillier 'If the FF books were dogs what would they be?' sort of threads - whether recovered or new - go in the FF forum or General Chat? Put them in the FF one since it is specifically about FF.

Oh and I meant to ask, who was Alex B on TUFF (he must have been there)? Was he Gallicus? Yup, that's me.

I reckon that it would be pretty cool to have a similar structure to what there was on the unofficial forum though...but I guess anything is better than nothing... You are welcome to post either new solutions or revised solutions in new threads. This is simply a thread to achive what was posted at Unofficial forum.

I'm willing to give it a go. As far as I'm aware, I did a decent job of moderating on the late lamented Unofficial Forum. There you go!

I'm looking for someone to be a moderator on the forum, especially during the time I'm usually in bed asleep (UK GMT 10am-6pm)! Anyone interested?

I see. I'm new. Maybe you could consider charging bit coin, like 50 or 70 cents per download? My agreements with various copyright holders (Wizard Books, Steve Jackson, Ian Livingstone, the writers and artists etc.) mean I can't make a profit off the magazine. The price of the print version covers only printing, packaging, postage & PayPal fees.

More like not going on. But good things are stirring like crazy over at Sparkfurnace (Dave Morris and co.) and even Lone Wolf is not dead yet, might even pick up some steam with Mantikore at the helm, who knows? So maybe that will stir the granddaddy of it all into action once more. Now the question is where's JH Brennan at? Still alive? His books could used new releases with proofreading... JH Brennan's stuff is coming out as apps from Tin Man Games at some point next year. He's still alive!

Found about 20 more (no ND yet though!); Alex, are you happy for me to dump them like this in this thread or do you want a better structure? Go ahead. It keeps them all in one place.

Gallicus said: "- Spring behind door to surprise whomever is approaching. -Step forward and announce yourself. -You have met him before. -Jog his memory. -Offer him a drink.": This is not possible if you follow the plan above by escaping from the bedroom at the start. You have to attack the hunchback and get him down to less than 4 Stamina, otherwise you can't later claim that you know him. Champskees argued that knowing of his existence (as opposed to fighting & talking to him) was enough to count as "having met him before". The Tin Man Games app disagrees. You *have* to fight him the first time around for it to count as having met him.

Good work from yourself on Titannica recently. Unfortunately I've had very little time to get properly into FF recently (as opposed to quick comments on forums), so I haven't had a chance to do much editing of late. I would, as ever, like to change that... You mentioned a while back about changing the location of Titannica to another wiki host. Is that right? Do you have any further thoughts on that, as I wasn't sure what you meant. I had thought about it, mainly to deal with the fixed width issue of the current wikia skin. However, they are bringing in a new skin (codenamed "Darwin") that will once more allow wider pages. So we should probably stay put for now.

Mini-adventures? Reviews? Reviews also of online fiction? We've had a 200+ paragrpah mini-adventure in very issue since the first issue. We've had a reviews section, "The Arcane Archive", since about issue 7. With so much professional stuff being published gamebook-wise I'm not really interested in covering fan materials published online.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to put a preview issue or something on the website or the forum to try and generate more interest in buying a printed copy? The issue are free for download as pdfs, so I'm not sure I see the point of a preview.

I don't suppose anyone archived any of the old threads, did they? Not to my knowledge. I had ported most (but not all) of the communal FF adventure "The Manor on Crimson Hill" to this site some time ago, but nothing else.

What do you think to the idea of an advertising blitz to get everyone on here? You're bound to have emails for most people, including some of those who disappeared when the forum messed up a while back. It'd be a shame not to have a home for FF chat on the web. Most of the people I have an email address for are already members here. It is all those not involved with the magazine that need to be told about this forum. I used the Yuku forum (our old forum) software to send a message about this place to those members of the old forum who had posted in the last couple of months - I couldn't get access to a full list of members.

Hi all, You'll maybe have noticed that the Unofficial Forum has been closed by Masterchief (who is, thankfully, getting better). I sent him a message asking him about it and about the content on there and he replied as follows: "It was the right time to close it. People weren't posting, and the interest since the upgrade had waned significantly. I felt like I was flogging a dead horse, and it's better to close it down now, giving it the respect it deserves, than let it fade into an internet ghost town. You were one of the few members that still logged in almost daily, everyone else barely comes by even once a week. I put a lot of work on resources, I've created icons and banners and backgrounds, even using my phone from the hospital bed much to the annoyance of the ward nurse, but people just weren't interested in hanging around despite my encouragement for them to keep posting. I had no feedback on aesthetic changes and people just largely seemed disinterested with many expressing a desire to start a new forum and move there. I'm afraid that as far as I know, everything is gone. I removed all of the topics and it appears the posts have been deleted along with them. If people didn't have copies of their reviews (I always encouraged people to write their reviews in Word Pad or some such before posting them) then they are most likely gone. Any online storage for things like documents or artwork should only ever be trusted as a possible backup, not the sole source ... Please pass my wishes on to Gallicus; if he would like to put a few lines in the news of the next fantazine letting people know the forum has closed then that would be great." So it looks like that's the finish of what was a very fun forum. It would be a pity if we can't reassemble somewhere else (e.g. Alex's Fantazine forum). What do you think? It would also be nice to have an archive of the reviews and soultions that were on there. Warren. That was unexpected! I hadn't been posting much for a variety of reasons, such trying to finish up issue #12.

I've managed to win on Adventurer difficulty, but am still trying to succeed on Hardcore Hero. Having 2 less skill actually makes the fights slightly challenging! Hardcore feels insanely difficult! It is amazing the difference just two SKILL points makes.
