Legend of Zagor Stubble Sk7 St16 Lu9 Go16 (roll of 11)
Some astonishingly bad dice rolling saw me only hitting the corpse lizard once before he hit me 8 times.
Kills:0 Just checking re gold - the book says 'roll three dice and add 2' and that Stubble gets an extra 5, so when you say 'roll of 11' do you mean that the dice added up to 9, or did you forget to add the other 2?

Deathtrap Dungeon
Sk 9 St 20 Lu 7
No assigned stats No guide 1 attempt
This must have been one of my shortest ever attempts at Deathtrap Dungeon! With below average starting stats, I had the misfortune of losing 4 Skill for the fight with the Orcs, scraping through that battle with 2 Stamina remaining. Despite gulping down a potion of strength, I soon fell foul of the Flying Guardians when attempting to extract the emerald.
Items: Rope, hollow wooden tube, 3gp, 10 prov.
Kills: 2 orcs, 1 flying guardian.

Deathtrap Dungeon 1 attempt No guide Stats rolled in order Died to an ORC Stats etc: Skill: 10/10 Stamina: 1/17 Luck: 6/8 Items: Provisions: 10 (+4, only when allowed, only one at a time) Skill potion (1/2) Gold: 2 Rope
Kills: (First ORC) Writeup: Ah, Deathtrap Dungeon. I'm confident the last time I played this would've been when I was 10 or 11, and that I was unable to beat it even with rampant cheating. Yet, I'm pretty sure it was still somehow everything I wanted in an FF book. Fast-forwarding to present day, I don't think I'm going to be much of an experience from a functionally-blind single attempt.
My copy's a Wizard Books version, and there's inexplicably the number 12 printed in the middle of the rules for testing your luck.
Going into this book, I think I can remember five things: The final boss has skill 12 , you need certain gems to actually win at the end though unlike Firetop Mountain getting the wrong combination just kills you, there's a mirror somewhere that kills you if you look at it, there's a statue with two gems for eyes but one is hollow and full of acidic gas, and you can team up with another contestant at some point but are forced to fight to the death before too long anyway. I remember absolutely nothing of directions.
My stats are middling-to-poor, but they're still good enough to pass muster in a fairer book. With the provisions and my decent skill (and what I assume to be a large number of deathtraps in the book), I'm thinking a stamina potion won't be of much use, so it's a toss-up between whether the book's luck test heavy or not. None of my scant memories include luck tests - it's all player decisions that get you killed - and if my skill takes a hit I'm doomed, so I'm settling on that one.
To sum up the backstory, a rich guy made a seemingly-impossible to survive challenge, my character saw a flier and went 'literally nobody's ever survived this? I like those odds!' and, along with five other people with no survival instinct we walk into a tunnel in a hillside never to be seen again. Reading the other contestants brings up some more memories - the assassin attacks at some point and I think has some gems on him, one barbarian is the one you can team up with, and I think of the knight and the elf one is already dead and the other you can find dying. I've got nothing on the second barbarian.
Stopping to open the pigeonhole with my name on it I receive two gold coins and a fairly banal note. I can't wait to find out what sort of shops I'm going to find in the 'nobody ever survives going in' dungeon to use those coins on (???). Maybe there was something better in there originally and the assassin swiped it.
I make some poor decisions from the get-go, cutting open a sac of irritating spores, before the tunnel starts getting dreadfully hot. I remember what to do here and get through safely, only to find myself facing something that doesn't stir any memories. I thought the killer mirror room was what lay past the hot corridor, but instead I find a door with a plate I can slide open to peek through. Doing so I see a pit just beyond the door with some rope on the far side. The setup seems obvious - you try the door, find it's a bit stuck, put too much strength into forcing it open and fall into the pit, which I'd have obviated by peeking into the room and seeing the setup - but what makes me hesitate is how the option for going into the room dictates a whole set of actions rather than just 'open the door', which usually only happens if the author wants to dictate a specific failure. Still, rope has the potential to be incredibly useful in a dungeon crawl, to the extent I think my character's an idiot for not already having some, so I may as well give it a go. Nothing ventured... Oh. That was uneventful. I really do overthink things at times.
Rounding a corner I run straight into a pair of orcs. In this manmade dungeon complex full of deadly traps that only has entrants once per year, and they certainly weren't amongst the other competitors. Just what are they doing here? How do they survive? Is there a thriving underground society secretly in Baron Sukumvit's dungeon? I'm reminded of an old Battle for Wesnoth custom map that operated on much the same premise - you controlled a group of adventurers challenging a man-made dungeon that nobody had ever survived, all for fame and fortune, but it turned out that a lich had moved into the dungeon and its minions were what was killing all the contestants rather than the intended dungeon. I wonder if a similar thing is happening here.
While I'm ruminating on what their presence means, they disarm me and so I have to punch them to death. Or try to. The first ORC falls without issue, but despite having equal skill to the second ORC while disarmed, after a bunch of combat rounds I'm down to 1/17 stamina while a botched luck roll leaves my foe at 3/4. Checking the rules, I'm allowed to use my potion at any time, and while it makes no logical sense that downing a potion will undo my not having my sword, mechanically it's all above board.
And then I roll a double 1 vs the orc's double 6 and die anyway. That's a pretty ignominious way to go.
Well, I went into the deathtrap dungeon that nobody survives, and died. Can't say it wasn't expected.

I'm assuming that in Creature of Havoc, you can use the pendant at the relevant section regardless of whether your copy actually contains the "You find yourself" phrase? Creature of Havoc Skill: 10 Stamina: 22 Luck: 12 Assigned stats: No Guide: Yes Attempts: 1 items: pendant, crystal club, holy ring, 2 gold, rope, ring of truth fights: clawbeast, hobbit, armoured knight, 3 flesh feeders, strongarm, warrior, thief, warrior, fighter in leather armour, 2 blood orcs, manic beast, villager, 2 brigands, 2 goblins info: -20 "You cannot see a thing", +20 "You find yourself", 333 to use club, +50 to grab Darramouss, -93 at entrance to netherworld, covered in elven dust, -52 if ends in 7, blue stemmed sculliweed, flower 49, -50 at weaseltongue The lenient combat rules and my decent skill made for a pretty easy victory.

I'm assuming that in Creature of Havoc, you can use the pendant at the relevant section regardless of whether your copy actually contains the "You find yourself" phrase? Definitely. Requiring players to use the first Wizard Books reissue in order to have any chance of success would be ludicrous.

The more interesting 2nd attempt:
Skill 12, stamina 14, luck 7 You'd actually be better off submitting the second attempt. Your average roll for stats first time round was 3, and second time round it was only 2¼ (rounding down to 2), which would get you a slightly better score. Skill determines whether halves round down or up, but fractions lower than a half round down unless you allocated dice.
The replay penalty makes no difference for two reasons: 1) It only affects the victory/closest to victory bonus, which you didn't get because evilwizard won the book. 2) Choosing to replay automatically brings the penalty into play (if you get a victory-related bonus) even if you end up going with your first attempt.

For Port of Peril, does Yaztromo's bonus allow you to exceed your initial? Also do you start with provisions or not?

you may not exceed Initial scores unless the text explicitly says you can. As for Provisions, the rules say you have 10 meals' worth, even though the Background suggests otherwise. If this book had playtesters, they don't appear to have done a very good job. Or somebody ignored a lot of their recommendations.
