Remember to deduct Stamina and Luck by 1 point. Having a doddering fool around is one thing, allowing a potentially deranged psychopath to travel with the party probably won't last long. I think the literal punch in the guts is a fairly direct warning.

"Attempt anything like that again, and you'll be joining them."

Is Jack still interested in opening the middle chest? Also, anyone else doing anything?

Redric holds up the chest he examined earlier. "Despite the risk, I still think this chest should be opened. I suggest the old man does this as penance for his stupidity."

Redric taps the hilt of his sword threateningly. "I imagine you have an interest in staying alive, however. Open it!"

Jack was about to say pretty much exactly what Throma said, give or take an 'Arr', but is slightly slower off the mark. Instead he just opens and closes his mouth, nods and touches the tip of his cutlass.

As to actions: nothing is going to stop Jack from opening that chest.
(I'm assuming I don't need to roll again...?)

"So many times I've seen snakes left around treasure chests. Other beasts too, one or two panthers... once a giant tortoise – not sure what the point of that was. I like 'em better than gunpowder booby-traps. One time a chest blew a hole in the ship's side and we had to scramble out before it sank. We didn't keep a scrap of booty. Not one scrap. And four men went to Davy Jones's locker."

"Good thinking – just mind he doesn't grab whatever's in there if it looks sorcerous or boney."

While the others are arguing over chests, Talbion listens at the west door (rolls 9) and the north door (rolls 12).

"Threatening a defiler of the dead!
"If he won't do it, let me. Stand back if you're afraid."
*As before, stands to one side of the chest and tries to flip the lid open with her sword.* (11)

Throma attempts to open the far left chest, but her sword fails to gain purchase on the lid.

Whilst the adventurers are arguing amongst themselves, Talbion puts his ear against both the west and north doors, but cannot hear anything coming from the other sides.

Jack manages to open the middle chest with the 'flip the lid with a blade' trick. A GHOST pops out of the chest! The GHOST flies up into the air and fills the room with an evil laugh. This frightens the party so badly that each adventurer must deduct 2 points from their Skill!

The GHOST looks down on the party and cackles, 'You are all doomed to die here, unless you place all of your treasure into my box!' The spectral being gestures towards the chest he came out of and waits for the party to act.

"Damn it, I told you all to leave those chests alone!"

Talbion throws his 2 gold pieces in the chest and begs the ghost's forgiveness.

*Tries to overcome her fear and defy the Ghost.* (8)
"And how is giving you our valuables supposed to avert our doom?"

"I once saw the ghost of my uncle Morris. So fucking stupid that uncle...
Disgusting things you all are, ghosts..."
Kradon throws one of his coins to the chest.
And spits to the chest.

"Blimey. This is new. And they say dead men tell no tales."

"Look folks, do as you will, this old salt isn't giving up his [*checks*] two coins and a nut."

Murg spits at the Ghost.

"I am not afraid of spirits of the dead. Come, taste my axe!"

Kradon throws a freeze spell against the ghost.

You cannot use spells in this adventure. However, the Riddling Reaver does provide for one player to be a wizard and outlines the rules etc for this.

The ghost watches Talbion and Kradon place their coins in the chest. The ghost looks unimpressed. 'Three coins? May you rot in hell for your miserly offering!' As it is finishing its sentence, Murg's spit passes straight through the spirit, taking some of the ghost's ectoplasm with it. The ghost then retreats into the chest, slamming it shut. The room is once again quiet.

Remember to deduct 2 gold coins for Talbion's possessions & 1 gold coin from Kradon's.

Murg: "Well, that was a close call comrades! Who wants to open the last chest?"

"Not me anyway. Let us leave this accursed place!"

[vagsancho]

"This damn phantom dares to frighten us and then to run away back to his chest???
Who has a lamp?
Let us burn hist chest with him inside!"

Talbion attempt to restrain Kradon before he remembers he has a lantern himself (Roll 7)

"I'll open the last chest! Third time's a charm."

Jack moves to assist Throma with lid-flipping whether she wants help or not. (8)

Kradon ignites the ghost's chest. And it burns.
And meanwhile, the oldman makes a sadistic smile.
