"That will make a tale for a calm sea day indeed. "I'll open the last chest! Third time's a charm." Jack moves to assist Throma with lid-flipping whether she wants help or not. (8) Jack initially fails but with a couple more attempts the two of them manage to get it open. Inside they find 4 Gold Pieces and a little mouse! The mouse can be kept as a backpack item if desired.

Kradon ignites the ghost's chest. And it burns. And meanwhile, the oldman makes a sadistic smile. Actually... Kradon discovers that igniting the chest is more difficult than he would have thought. Talbion initially tries to stop the old fool, but it becomes pretty clear that starting a fire with the weak glow of the lantern will take some time. Kradon gets on his knees and begins the arduous task of using the lantern's flame to light up the wooden chest. After five minutes, a small flame begins to catch on the side of the chest, and Kradon makes a sadistic smile. That smile quickly turns to a frown as Talbion leans over and snuffs out the little flame with his thumb. Kradon notes that he has used a fair portion of the oilskin and will not be able to try this again.

"Talbion, Redric and Murg helped kill the Serpent, and Prex silenced that maniac before he could complete his vile rite, so I'd give them first choice for a share of the money." *Glances at Talbion.* "That is, unless they just want to throw it to the ghost." *Picks up the mouse.* "I'll take this. Could be useful to test for some kinds of trap or predator."

"Thanks, but I'll take nothing from this room. Please, let us move on. How about heading north just in case the west door brings us closer to the trap that did for Thrushbeard's companion?"

*Jack looks unimpressed with this rationale for dividing the chest's contents and immediately pockets a coin when Talbion says he doesn't want one.*
"Doubt all the West doors lead to traps but content to head North. Anyone else not want a coin?"

Kradon stands petrified for a moment.
"north" he murmurs... "the Oracle has said to me that we should go north".
"Let us go west. Ive never liked that Guy".

Murg takes a coin.
"North seems as good a choice as any. But wait comrades, let me inspect these one more time..."
He leaves the Ghost's chest well alone, but searches the other two chests one last time for completeness' sake.
Rolls a 10 for the mouse's chest and a 5 for the Serpent's chest. Do we still have the -2 Skill penalty from being frightened by the Ghost, and does it apply to things like searching?

Do we still have the -2 Skill penalty from being frightened by the Ghost, and does it apply to things like searching? Yes the penalty is still in effect. The mouse's chest comes up empty, but Murg discovers a hidden compartment in the serpent's box! You find 3 Gold Pieces & a small vial of red liquid; it smells like medicine. There is enough for approximately one dose.

Murg carefully puts the vial of liquid in his backpack (which also should be holding his lantern and the emerald), and the gold in a pouch on his belt.
"This liquid could be a potion of some sort, comrades! Best we keep it safe for an unexpected situation. As for the gold, 'tis bribery funds. Sometimes, in my experience, you need to bribe creatures in order to capture even greater treasure!"

"Sorry comrades, these endless caves seem to have had a negative effect on my alertness, I have been beside myself for a bit. I should be alright again! If north is the consensus, I'll follow!"

"I'd be very happy to be the one to look after the bribery funds...? Do I take it from what you say that if they're not used for bribes they go back into the pot when we divide up the plunder?
"Is there an echo in here?"

Throma starts putting the boot in to the wooden door. The lock buckles, and then one final kick takes it off its rusting hinges. The door opens, revealing a short passageway about 15 feet long which ends in yet another door. This one, however, is unlocked. The party quickly open it and find themselves in another room. (Note that Throma loses 1 stamina for her attempt against the door). The room is rectangular and doors in the north and south walls are the only ways out. The walls and ceiling of this room have been painted with a huge mural depicting a country scene. Trees, flowers, meadows, birds, insects and the like are painted all over. Gradually the sounds of the countryside become louder until you could swear you were standing in a wood. But nothing is moving.

But what was really the name of that semigod? ... I ve heard about him from my last master, Razaak... What was his name god?... His fucking name is essencial to banish him..."

(Rolled a 6 to recognise Razaak's name!)
Redric's ears prick up and he draws his sword, levelling it at Kradon. "Razaak? He was an evil necromancer who wanted to destroy Allansia, and the old man has admitted to being his disciple! Kradon has hindered us at every turn of this journey, and I say we put him to death here and now. Who's with me, comrades?"
